The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization announced the imminent implementation of mandatory requirements for the Environmental Performance Card for paints and varnishes on products traded in the local market, starting from October 1, 2026, with the aim of enhancing compliance with environmental requirements and improving product quality in the markets.

Enhancing Consumer Awareness

The organization clarified that the Environmental Performance Card provides consumers with information that helps them understand the environmental performance level of the product, thereby enhancing consumer awareness and supporting their choices towards more efficient products, and encouraging the selection of products with better environmental performance.

Completing Requirements

The organization urged manufacturers and suppliers to take the initiative to complete the technical and procedural requirements and obtain the card before the mandatory implementation date, emphasizing the importance of complying with the technical regulation for paints (pigments) and varnishes. It noted that products that do not meet the requirements after the start date of the obligation will be subject to the approved regulatory procedures. Manufacturers and suppliers can submit a request for licensing through the electronic portal of the "Maneh" system.
