أعلن وزير الاتصالات وتقنية المعلومات السوري عبد السلام هيكل، أن سورية تحتاج إلى استثمارات لا تقل عن 5 مليارات دولار لتطوير البنية التحتية لقطاع الاتصالات والتحول الرقمي، في وقت تتطلع فيه البلاد لجذب مزيد من الشركات الإقليمية والعالمية للمشاركة في إعادة بناء البلاد.
وقدّر الوزير، خلال مقابلة مع "الشرق بلومبرغ" على هامش مؤتمر "ليب 2026" بالعاصمة السعودية الرياض الاستثمارات المطلوبة في هذا المشروع بأكثر من مليار دولار إضافة إلى مليار دولار أخرى لتطوير البنية التحتية للألياف الضوئية.
مشروع الشبكة الرئيسية
وبحسب تصريحات الوزير، تستهدف البلاد أكثر من 3 مليارات دولار، في قطاع خدمات الهاتف المحمول.
وقال هيكل: "إن الوزارة تعمل على مشروع الشبكة الرئيسية بما يسمح بزيادة سعات نقل البيانات وسرعات الإنترنت، بالتوازي مع تطوير خدمات الاتصالات والتحول الرقمي".
وأضاف: "المشروع لن يربط الأنحاء السورية فحسب بل سيعزز أيضاً الربط الإقليمي لحركة البيانات".
وأفاد أن المشروع يستهدف أيضاً إنشاء مسار بري بديل لحركة البيانات عبر سورية، بما يعزز موقعها في شبكات الربط بين المنطقة والأسواق الخارجية.
وبين أن الفترة القصيرة القادمة ستشهد إعلان تفاصيل اتفاق بين سورية والأردن والسعودية يتعلق بالربط الإقليمي.
وأشار إلى أن عدداً من الشركات السعودية أبدت اهتماماً بالفعل بدخول السوق السورية خلال اجتماعات عقدها على مدار اليومين الماضيين.
The Syrian Minister of Communications and Technology, Abdul Salam Haykal, announced that Syria needs investments of no less than 5 billion dollars to develop the infrastructure of the telecommunications sector and digital transformation, at a time when the country is looking to attract more regional and global companies to participate in rebuilding the country.
The minister estimated, during an interview with "Asharq Bloomberg" on the sidelines of the "LEAP 2026" conference in the Saudi capital Riyadh, that the investments required for this project exceed one billion dollars, in addition to another billion dollars for the development of fiber optic infrastructure.
Main Network Project
According to the minister's statements, the country is targeting more than 3 billion dollars in the mobile services sector.
Haykal said: "The ministry is working on the main network project, which will allow for increased data transfer capacities and internet speeds, alongside the development of telecommunications services and digital transformation."
He added: "The project will not only connect various parts of Syria but will also enhance regional connectivity for data traffic."
He reported that the project also aims to establish an alternative land route for data traffic through Syria, which will strengthen its position in the connectivity networks between the region and external markets.
He indicated that the short period ahead will witness the announcement of details of an agreement between Syria, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia regarding regional connectivity.
He pointed out that a number of Saudi companies have already expressed interest in entering the Syrian market during meetings he held over the past two days.
