The Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court revealed new details today, Monday, regarding the investigations related to the file of Adnan Al-Jumaili's office manager, Alaa Mohsen Khalaf, after announcing the seizure of large sums of money, properties, and vehicles linked to the detained suspect.
The investigating judge clarified that the investigation teams managed to seize seven billion Iraqi dinars, along with five and a half million US dollars, during raid operations carried out at various locations associated with the suspect.
It was revealed that Khalaf owns a vast network of properties, as investigations led to the seizure of 35 properties and six cars; some of which are registered under the names of intermediaries, in an attempt to conceal the sources of the funds. Judicial sources indicate that these seizures are part of a broader series of measures aimed at dismantling corruption networks linked to Al-Jumaili's file; which has seen a noticeable expansion in investigations over the past few days, including a review of other financial and real estate files suspected to be part of an illegal transfer system.
Sources following the case confirm that the current investigations are not limited to the seized money, but extend to tracking financial pathways believed to have occurred through multiple fronts over the past years, amid indications that the amount of money involved in the case may be larger than what has been revealed so far. The relevant authorities are also reviewing the data of dozens of individuals who dealt with the suspect or appeared in the transfer records, as part of an extensive auditing process aimed at uncovering potential links between this network and other corruption files under investigation.
The investigating judge confirmed that all seized items underwent precise legal procedures, and that the suspect has been referred to the relevant authorities to complete the investigations, after the case was registered as one of the largest cases of illicit enrichment and concealment of public funds currently being examined.
