The Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, confirmed that achieving energy security requires striving for sustainability, noting that energy security leads to economic prosperity, at which point other issues such as climate change can be addressed.
He added in a panel discussion during the Russian Energy Week Forum that the unilateral approach demanded by some contradicts the reality of the real world, pointing out that the needs of each country differ from one another, and all governments are accountable to their peoples to defend their prosperity unless they benefit financially from their resources and implement efficient energy systems to serve as a foundation for economic prosperity and diversity.
He mentioned that Saudi Arabia is looking for opportunities for cooperation with Russia, indicating collaboration in 11 sectors and more than 27 institutional entities in both countries, reflecting continuous and sustainable growth to achieve innovation and prosperity in the long term.
He added that there is an expansion in cooperation across various sectors and innovations as a priority that reflects on the industrial cities in the Kingdom, and they are working with Moscow to develop innovation and sign memorandums of understanding alongside cooperation in electrical networks and electricity technologies.
He pointed out that plans are being made to hold a Russian-Saudi forum with the participation of 100 companies and businessmen, ensuring the introduction of commercial investments and the private sector.
The Russian government announced that Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman discussed potential joint projects in the fields of liquefied natural gas, hydropower, and nuclear energy, according to media reports.
Novak confirmed to the Saudi Minister of Energy that collective work within the "OPEC Plus" alliance serves the long-term national interests of both countries and contributes to strengthening their economies.
This came during a meeting between Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and the Russian Deputy Prime Minister today (Wednesday) in Moscow.
Eight countries in "OPEC Plus," including Saudi Arabia and Russia, agreed in their last meeting this month to implement a production adjustment of 137,000 barrels per day from the additional voluntary adjustments totaling 1.65 million barrels per day, which will be implemented in November 2025.
