The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani, confirmed that the government provides sovereign guarantees for the investment sector amounting to 85% of the value of projects.
Al-Sudani stated during the Iraqi-Omani Businessmen Forum that "24 memorandums of understanding and two agreements have been signed in various fields between Iraq and Oman."
He pointed out the "abundance of investment opportunities available for Iraqi businessmen to invest in Oman, as well as the contribution of Omani companies to the development movement that Iraq is witnessing," according to the Iraqi News Agency "INA".
He clarified that "we must work to capitalize on these opportunities, in light of the rapid global economic competition, and translate the commonalities and distinguished relationship into contributions that achieve sustainable development and benefit the peoples of both countries," emphasizing "the importance of the private sector's role in both countries and the opportunities for cooperation, with government support at the level of legislation and laws and addressing bureaucracy."
Al-Sudani said that "Iraq still has many untapped natural resources, the most important of which are the sulfur and phosphate sectors, in light of the government's direction towards economic reform."
