تراجعت العقود الآجلة للغاز الطبيعي في الولايات المتحدة بنحو 3% اليوم (الاثنين)، مدفوعة بإنتاج يقترب من مستوى قياسي ووفرة في مخزونات الوقود وتوقعات بطقس أقل حرارة الأسبوع القادم مقارنة بالتوقعات السابقة.
وانخفضت العقود الآجلة للغاز الطبيعي تسليم شهر سبتمبر في بورصة نيويورك التجارية 9.5 سنت، بما يعادل 3.3%، إلى 2.821 دولار لكل مليون وحدة حرارية بريطانية.
وتوقع المركز الوطني للأعاصير في الولايات المتحدة أن يتحرك الإعصار إيرين، الذي كان قريبًا من جزر البهاما، شمالًا ثم شرقًا قبالة الساحل الشرقي للبلاد، لبقية الأسبوع دون أن يضرب اليابسة، وفقاً لوكالات غربية.
وعلى الرغم من أن العواصف قد ترفع أسعار الغاز من خلال تعطيل إنتاجه في خليج المكسيك، فإن المحللين أوضحوا أن العواصف من المرجح أن تخفض الطلب والأسعار جراء إغلاق محطات تصدير الغاز الطبيعي المسال وانقطاع الكهرباء عن ملايين المنازل والشركات، ما يقلل من كمية الغاز التي تحتاجها مولدات الكهرباء.

Natural gas futures in the United States fell by about 3% today (Monday), driven by production nearing record levels, an abundance of fuel inventories, and forecasts for cooler weather next week compared to previous expectations.
