في مشهد مرعب حبس أنفاس سكان مدينة «إسكي شهير» شمال غرب تركيا، حوّلت صاعقة رعدية هائلة هدوء مئذنة أحد المساجد إلى حطام متناثر في ثوانٍ، متسببة في دمار إنشائي واسع وإصابة الإمام الذي كان يستعد لرفع الأذان.
بالتزامن مع عاصفة عنيفة ضربت منطقة «أودون بازاري»، استهدفت صاعقة قوية قمة المئذنة مباشرة، مما أدى إلى انهيارها بالكامل. ووصف الأهالي دويّ الضربة بأنه كان «يشبه الانفجار الضخم»، حيث تطايرت شظايا الحجارة والزجاج لمسافات بعيدة، بل إن قوة الانفجار الناتج عن الصاعقة قذفت بباب المئذنة الحديدي لأكثر من 50 متراً في الهواء.
وداخل المسجد، كان الإمام «رمضان» وحيداً يتهيأ لصلاة العصر، لتنهال عليه شظايا الزجاج والركام المتساقط من السقف والنوافذ بفعل الضغط الهائل للصاعقة. وعلى الفور، هرعت فرق الإسعاف لنقل الإمام إلى المستشفى، فيما فرضت السلطات طوقاً أمنياً حول المسجد المنهار خوفاً من وقوع إصابات أخرى بين المارة.
وتداول رواد مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي في تركيا مقاطع فيديو توثق الدمار الكبير الذي لحق بالمسجد، وسط حالة من الذهول من قوة الطبيعة التي حوّلت مئذنة شاهقة إلى ركام في لحظة خاطفة. وتنتظر السلطات المحلية تقييم حجم الأضرار الإنشائية بالكامل قبل اتخاذ قرار بشأن ترميم المسجد أو إغلاقه نهائياً.
In a terrifying scene that left the residents of the city of "Eskişehir" in northwestern Turkey breathless, a massive lightning strike turned the tranquility of a mosque's minaret into scattered debris in seconds, causing extensive structural damage and injuring the imam who was preparing to call to prayer.
Simultaneously with a violent storm that hit the "Odunpazarı" area, a powerful lightning strike directly targeted the top of the minaret, leading to its complete collapse. Residents described the sound of the strike as "similar to a huge explosion," as shards of stone and glass flew far away, with the force of the explosion from the lightning even launching the iron door of the minaret over 50 meters into the air.
Inside the mosque, Imam "Ramazan" was alone, preparing for the afternoon prayer, when shards of glass and debris from the ceiling and windows rained down on him due to the immense pressure of the lightning strike. Immediately, ambulance teams rushed to take the imam to the hospital, while authorities imposed a security cordon around the collapsed mosque for fear of further injuries among passersby.
Social media users in Turkey shared videos documenting the extensive damage inflicted on the mosque, amid a state of shock at the power of nature that turned a towering minaret into rubble in a fleeting moment. Local authorities are awaiting a full assessment of the structural damage before making a decision regarding the restoration of the mosque or its permanent closure.
