The Egyptian artist Zina revealed new details about the case in which a ruling was issued sentencing the artist Ahmed Ezz to three years in prison, clarifying that the ruling was not executed and the end of the case was not a direct result of her concession, but rather came after she entered the appeal stage, coinciding with her decision to not continue pursuing legal actions.
Why didn't Zina continue the case?
Zina explained, during television statements, that her decision to distance herself from the case came after her mother's intervention, who asked her not to continue the procedures, believing that continuing the dispute would not represent a real gain but could potentially turn into a personal loss, even if the outcome was in her favor.
My mother decided my position
Zina pointed out that her mother's talk about her children was the main reason for her not completing the case procedures, explaining that her mother asked her not to seek to enforce the prison sentence.
Zina said in her remarks: "The three-year sentence was not executed because my mother asked me to stop, and she told me a word that scared me a lot: 'Your children will not forgive you if you go to prison.'"
Zina confirmed that if she had continued the procedures until the execution of the ruling, she would not have considered imprisoning Ahmed Ezz as a final goal, clarifying that she would have later conceded it, because what she was seeking, according to her statements, was to confront what she described as the accusations and slanders she faced.
I faced harsh slanders
Zina addressed the accusations directed at her during the years of dispute, considering that she faced harsh slanders, and said that the ruling issued in the case reflects, from her perspective, the extent of the accusations she faced.
She added: "The slander was really severe against me; no ruling would come for three years unless you were truly lying about everything and clearly wronged a human being, accusing her of injustice, forgery in all her documents, and theft, and she is not a liar."
I revealed him for who he truly is
Regarding her stance if the case had ended with a ruling against her, Zina said she does not believe that Ahmed Ezz would have treated her the same way, adding: "If the situation were reversed and I was sentenced to three years, he would not have shown me mercy, because he is unjust and has no mercy in his heart."
Zina concluded her remarks by indicating that the years of dispute made her see many details differently, saying: "I revealed him for who he truly is, and I am moving on normally; there is nothing, and there are people who help you normally."
