كشف الفنان المصري توفيق عبد الحميد عن الأسباب التي جعلته يعتزل التمثيل، مؤكدًا أن حالته الصحية فرضت عليه التوقف عن العمل بعد أن أثرت مشكلة الانزلاق الغضروفي على قدرته على الحركة وأصبحت عملية المشي أكثر صعوبة، ما دفعه إلى استخدام كرسي متحرك.
وأوضح خلال مداخلة هاتفية بالتلفزيون المصري أن العودة إلى تصوير الأعمال بصورة منتظمة لم تعد مناسبة لظروفه الحالية، لكنه قد يفكر في المشاركة إذا عرض عليه دور يتلاءم مع قدرته على الحركة وطبيعة وضعه الصحي.
وأشار توفيق إلى أن الابتعاد عن التمثيل لم يكن قرارًا سهلًا بالنسبة إليه، خاصة أن علاقته بالفن بدأت منذ سنوات الدراسة واستمرت خلال الجامعة ثم معهد الفنون المسرحية، قبل أن تتحول إلى رحلة طويلة أصبح خلالها التمثيل جزءًا أساسيًا من حياته.
ورغم ابتعاده، أكد الفنان أن شغفه بالمهنة لم يتغير وأكثر ما يفتقده هو الوقوف أمام الجمهور، لافتًا إلى خصوصية المسرح بالنسبة إليه بسبب المواجهة المباشرة بين الفنان والمتلقي التي تمنح العرض إحساسًا مختلفًا وتفاعلًا لا توفره الشاشة.
واختتم توفيق حديثه بالتأكيد على أنه لا يزال محبًا للتمثيل ويفتقده، لكنه يتعامل مع ظروفه الحالية وفق ما تسمح به قدرته الصحية والحركية.
The Egyptian artist Tawfiq Abdel Hamid revealed the reasons that led him to retire from acting, confirming that his health condition forced him to stop working after a herniated disc problem affected his ability to move, making walking more difficult and prompting him to use a wheelchair.
He explained during a phone call on Egyptian television that returning to filming projects regularly is no longer suitable for his current circumstances, but he might consider participating if offered a role that fits his mobility and health condition.
Tawfiq pointed out that stepping away from acting was not an easy decision for him, especially since his relationship with art began during his school years and continued through university and the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts, before evolving into a long journey where acting became an essential part of his life.
Despite his absence, the artist confirmed that his passion for the profession has not changed, and what he misses the most is standing in front of an audience, noting the uniqueness of theater for him due to the direct interaction between the artist and the audience, which gives the performance a different feeling and interaction that the screen does not provide.
Tawfiq concluded his remarks by affirming that he still loves acting and misses it, but he is dealing with his current circumstances according to what his health and mobility allow.
