تنطلق فعاليات مهرجان أفلام السعودية في دورته الثانية عشرة خلال الفترة من 26 يونيو إلى 2 يوليو تحت شعار «كل حكاية رحلة»، بتنظيم جمعية السينما، بالشراكة مع مركز الملك عبدالعزيز الثقافي العالمي (إثراء)، وبدعم من هيئة الأفلام، في دورة تتصدرها المخرجة السعودية هيفاء المنصور بوصفها الشخصية المكرمة لهذا العام.
تكريم المنصور
ويأتي تكريم هيفاء المنصور تقديراً لمسيرتها الفنية التي ارتبطت ببدايات السينما السعودية الحديثة، ودورها في ترسيخ حضورها على الساحة الإقليمية والعالمية.
وتُعد هيفاء المنصور أول مخرجة سينمائية سعودية، إذ انطلقت رحلتها الفنية مبكراً من خلال الفيلم القصير «من؟» عام 1997، قبل أن تحقق منعطفاً تاريخياً في مسيرتها عبر فيلم «وجدة» عام 2012.
وشكل «وجدة» محطة مفصلية في تاريخ السينما السعودية، بوصفه أول فيلم سعودي يُصوّر بالكامل داخل المملكة، وأول عمل سعودي يصل إلى الترشيحات الأولية لجائزة الأوسكار لأفضل فيلم أجنبي عام 2013.
حضور عالمي
ولم تتوقف تجربة المنصور عند حدود السينما المحلية، بل امتدت إلى المشهد العالمي من خلال أعمال سينمائية عدة، من أبرزها Mary Shelley، إلى جانب مشاركاتها في أبرز المحافل الدولية.
وفي عام 2015 اختيرت عضواً في لجنة تحكيم مسابقة «نظرة ما» ضمن مهرجان كان السينمائي، في خطوة عززت حضور السينما السعودية على الساحة العالمية.
ويحمل تكريم المنصور في الدورة الجديدة دلالات تتجاوز الاحتفاء بمنجز فردي، إذ يعكس تقديراً لدورها الريادي في تطوير الصناعة السينمائية السعودية، وإسهاماتها في تمكين المرأة داخل القطاع، إلى جانب تقديم صورة جديدة للسينما السعودية أمام العالم.
وتنطلق الدورة الثانية عشرة تحت شعار «كل حكاية رحلة»، في إشارة إلى التحولات المتسارعة التي تشهدها السينما السعودية، وما راكمته من تجارب ومسارات إبداعية خلال السنوات الأخيرة.
ويواصل مهرجان أفلام السعودية حضوره بوصفه إحدى أبرز المنصات الوطنية المعنية بدعم صناع الأفلام، وتعزيز الحراك السينمائي، واحتضان المواهب الجديدة في المملكة.
The Saudi Film Festival kicks off its twelfth edition from June 26 to July 2 under the slogan "Every Story is a Journey," organized by the Cinema Association in partnership with the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra), and supported by the Film Commission, with this edition being led by Saudi director Haifaa al-Mansour as the honoree of the year.
Honoring Al-Mansour
Haifaa al-Mansour is being honored in recognition of her artistic journey, which has been linked to the beginnings of modern Saudi cinema, and her role in establishing its presence on the regional and global stage.
Al-Mansour is considered the first female film director in Saudi Arabia, having begun her artistic journey early with the short film "Who?" in 1997, before achieving a historic turning point in her career with the film "Wadjda" in 2012.
"Wadjda" marked a pivotal moment in the history of Saudi cinema, being the first Saudi film to be shot entirely within the Kingdom, and the first Saudi work to reach the preliminary nominations for the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 2013.
Global Presence
Al-Mansour's experience did not stop at the local cinema; it extended to the global scene through several cinematic works, most notably "Mary Shelley," along with her participation in major international forums.
In 2015, she was selected as a member of the jury for the "Un Certain Regard" competition at the Cannes Film Festival, a step that enhanced the presence of Saudi cinema on the global stage.
The honoring of Al-Mansour in this new edition carries meanings that go beyond celebrating an individual achievement, reflecting an appreciation for her pioneering role in developing the Saudi film industry and her contributions to empowering women within the sector, as well as presenting a new image of Saudi cinema to the world.
The twelfth edition kicks off under the slogan "Every Story is a Journey," referring to the rapid transformations taking place in Saudi cinema and the accumulation of creative experiences and paths in recent years.
The Saudi Film Festival continues to establish itself as one of the most prominent national platforms dedicated to supporting filmmakers, enhancing cinematic movement, and nurturing new talents in the Kingdom.
