توفى أسطورة الروك والميتال البريطاني المغني الرئيس لفرقة Black Sabbath أوزي أوزبورن، عن عمر ناهز 76 عاماً، بعد صراع طويل مع مرض باركنسون، بحسب ما أكدت هيئة الإذاعة البريطانية بي بي سي.
وصعد أوزبورن قبل أسبوعين فقط، إلى المسرح للمرة الأخيرة في مهرجان «Back to the Beginning» في مسقط رأسه برمنغهام، احتفالاً بفرقة Black Sabbath، بمشاركة فرق شهيرة مثل: Metallica، وGuns N’ Roses، وPantera.
وفي بيان مؤثر، قالت عائلته: «بكلمات لا تكفي لوصف الألم، نعلن رحيل أوزي الحبيب هذا الصباح، محاطاً بعائلته ومغموراً بالحب. نرجو احترام خصوصيتنا في هذا الوقت العصيب».
ومنذ إعلانه عن إصابته بباركنسون في يناير 2020، خاض أوزبورن رحلة طويلة مع المرض، وتوقّف عن الجولات الموسيقية، في 2023، بسبب إصابة في العمود الفقري.
ورغم ذلك، ظل يعبّر عن ألمه لخذلان جمهوره قائلاً: «فكرة خيبة الأمل التي قد يشعر بها جمهوري تُمزّقني».
أوزبورن، المولود في برمنغهام العام 1948، بدأ رحلته الموسيقية مع Black Sabbath في نهاية الستينيات، وأسهم في صياغة هوية موسيقى الهيفي ميتال بصوته المميز، ومواضيعه المعتمة.
وأُقيل من الفرقة عام 1979، بسبب مشكلات الإدمان، لكنه انطلق بعدها في مسيرة فردية تفوقت تجارياً على نجاحاته الجماعية، من خلال ألبومات، مثل: Blizzard of Ozz وDiary of a Madman.
The British rock and metal legend, lead singer of Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, passed away at the age of 76 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease, as confirmed by the BBC.
Just two weeks ago, Osbourne took to the stage for the last time at the "Back to the Beginning" festival in his hometown of Birmingham, celebrating Black Sabbath, alongside famous bands such as Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, and Pantera.
In an emotional statement, his family said: "With words that are not enough to describe the pain, we announce the passing of our beloved Ozzy this morning, surrounded by his family and enveloped in love. We ask for privacy during this difficult time."
Since announcing his diagnosis of Parkinson's in January 2020, Osbourne has endured a long journey with the disease, and he stopped touring in 2023 due to a spinal injury.
Despite this, he continued to express his pain over disappointing his fans, saying: "The thought of the disappointment my fans might feel tears me apart."
Osbourne, born in Birmingham in 1948, began his musical journey with Black Sabbath in the late 1960s, contributing to the shaping of heavy metal music with his distinctive voice and dark themes.
He was dismissed from the band in 1979 due to addiction issues, but then embarked on a solo career that commercially surpassed his collective successes, with albums such as Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman.
