أكدت الفنانة المصرية ليلى طاهر أنها لن تتراجع عن قرار اعتزالها ولا تفكر في العودة إلى الوسط الفني مرة أخرى، مشيرة إلى أن مستوى الأعمال المعروضة أصبح متدنياً للغاية «لا أوافق على أعمال أقل من المستوى الذي قدمته سابقاً».
وأوضحت ليلى طاهر، في تصريح خاص إلى «عكاظ»، أنها لم تشعر يوماً بأنها غائبة عن الجمهور، مؤكدة أنها تجد محبة الجمهور دائماً حولها في كل مكان وهذا الحب يمنحها شعوراً لا يوصف، معلقة: «عندي رضا واكتفاء بمشواري الفني كله».
وأضافت الفنانة المصرية أنها تركت الساحة الفنية والفرص للشباب الجدد في الوسط الفني، لافتة أنها لا ترغب في تحويل سيرتها الذاتية إلى عمل فني يقدم.
يذكر أن ليلى طاهر ممثلة ومذيعة مصرية من مواليد 13 مارس 1942، بدأت حياتها المهنية كمذيعة في التلفزيون المصري، ثم انتقلت إلى مجال التمثيل السينمائي، وتعد واحدة من أهم فنانات جيلها، اشتهرت بتقديمها برامج متنوعة في التلفزيون، أبرزها برنامج «مجلة التلفزيون».
كما قدمت ليلى طاهر العديد من الأعمال السينمائية المميزة منها «الناصر صلاح الدين، لا تدمرني معك، عفواً أيها القانون، الاحتياط واجب، المدمن، حكمت المحكمة، عاصفة من الدموع، ليالي ياسمين، تضحك الأقدار، الطاووس، قطة على نار، وزمان يا حب».

Layla Taher explained, in a special statement to "Okaz," that she has never felt that she is absent from the audience, affirming that she always finds the love of the audience around her everywhere, and this love gives her an indescribable feeling, commenting: "I am content and satisfied with my entire artistic journey."
The Egyptian artist added that she has left the artistic scene and opportunities for new young talents, noting that she does not wish to turn her autobiography into a work of art to be presented.
It is worth mentioning that Layla Taher is an Egyptian actress and broadcaster born on March 13, 1942. She began her professional life as a broadcaster on Egyptian television, then moved to the field of cinematic acting, and is considered one of the most important artists of her generation. She is famous for presenting various programs on television, most notably the program "Television Magazine."
Layla Taher has also presented many distinguished cinematic works, including "Al-Nasir Salah al-Din, Do Not Destroy Me with You, Excuse Me, O Law, The Reserve is Required, The Addict, The Court Ruled, A Storm of Tears, Jasmine Nights, Fate Laughs, The Peacock, A Cat on Fire, and Once Upon a Love."
