شهدت محمية الدندر القومية في السودان حدثًا غير مألوف بعد وصول تمساح نيلي على متن طائرة خاصة قادمًا من الأردن، في عملية لفتت الأنظار إقليميًا ودوليًا، بعدما تبيّن أن الحيوان كان قد هُرّب على الأرجح من السودان قبل ضبطه في عمّان.
وتسلّمت الإدارة العامة لقوات حماية الحياة البرية في الخرطوم التمساح يوم الأحد، قبل نقله مباشرة إلى إدارة محمية الدندر، التي تستعد لإعادته إلى بيئته الطبيعية عبر رحلة نهرية قصيرة داخل المحمية، باستخدام مركب صغير يضمن وصوله بأمان إلى موطنه الأصلي.
وجاءت عملية النقل بدعم كامل من إحدى المنظمات المعنية بالحياة البرية، التي تكفّلت بتوفير الطائرة الخاصة والرعاية البيطرية اللازمة، وذلك بإشراف مباشر من الملكة علياء في الأردن، حتى لحظة وصول التمساح إلى مطار بورتسودان.
وأشادت إدارة المحمية بالتنسيق المشترك بين مؤسسة الملكة علياء، ومنظمة الصندوق الدولي للرفق بالحيوان (IFAW)، ومنظمة FOUR PAWS، مؤكدة أن هذا التعاون أسهم في إعادة التمساح إلى موطنه الطبيعي بعد رحلة غير معتادة. وتعد هذه العملية الثانية من نوعها، إذ شهدت المحمية في عام 2021 إعادة تمساح نيلي آخر في إطار جهود دولية لحماية الحياة البرية.
The Dinder National Park in Sudan witnessed an unusual event after a Nile crocodile arrived on a private plane from Jordan, in an operation that attracted regional and international attention, as it became clear that the animal had likely been smuggled from Sudan before being intercepted in Amman.
The General Administration of Wildlife Protection Forces in Khartoum received the crocodile on Sunday, before transferring it directly to the Dinder Park administration, which is preparing to return it to its natural habitat via a short river journey within the park, using a small boat to ensure its safe arrival to its original home.
The transfer operation was fully supported by one of the wildlife organizations, which provided the private plane and necessary veterinary care, under the direct supervision of Queen Alia in Jordan, until the crocodile's arrival at Port Sudan Airport.
The park administration praised the joint coordination between the Queen Alia Foundation, the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), and FOUR PAWS, emphasizing that this collaboration contributed to returning the crocodile to its natural habitat after an unusual journey. This operation marks the second of its kind, as the park witnessed the return of another Nile crocodile in 2021 as part of international efforts to protect wildlife.
