أعلن المغني الأسطوري بيلي جويل، البالغ من العمر 76 عاماً، إلغاء جولته الغنائية القادمة بعد تشخيصه بحالة صحية تُعرف باسم استسقاء الدماغ ذات الضغط الطبيعي (NPH).
استسقاء الدماغ هي حالة تؤثر على الدماغ وتسبب تراكم السوائل فيه، مما يؤدي إلى ضغط على الأنسجة الدماغية وقد يسبب مشكلات في السمع، الرؤية، والتوازن.
جاء هذا الإعلان عبر حسابه على إنستغرام، (الجمعة)، حيث أوضح «جويل» أن أعراض الحالة تفاقمت خلال عروضه الحية الأخيرة.
وأشار إلى أنه يخضع حالياً لعلاج فيزيائي مكثف بناءً على توصيات أطبائه، مع نصيحة بتجنب الأداء على المسرح خلال فترة التعافي.
وعبّر المغني عن أسفه لإحباط جمهوره، شاكراً إياهم على دعمهم المستمر، وقال: «أنا ممتن للرعاية الطبية الممتازة التي أتلقاها، وأتطلع إلى العودة إلى المسرح قريباً».
وتضمنت الجولة الملغاة عروضاً في مدن مثل نيويورك، نيو أورليانز، تورونتو، سانتا كلارا، سولت ليك سيتي، واشنطن العاصمة، وليفربول.
وسيتم استرداد أموال التذاكر تلقائياً للمعجبين دون الحاجة إلى اتخاذ أي إجراءات.
يأتي هذا الإعلان بعد تأجيل «جويل» لجولته في مارس الماضي لمدة أربعة أشهر بسبب خضوعه لعملية جراحية، حيث أكد حينها أن التأجيل ضروري للتعافي وخضوعه للعلاج الفيزيائي.
وتفاعل المعجبون مع الخبر بإرسال رسائل دعم وتمنيات بالشفاء العاجل عبر وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي، حيث كتب أحدهم: «خذ وقتك للتعافي، نحتاجك معنا لفترة طويلة!» بينما تساءل آخرون عما إذا كانت الحالة الصحية مرتبطة بسقوطه المقلق على المسرح في فبراير الماضي خلال حفل في منتجع موهيجان صن في كونيتيكت.
وفي ذلك الحادث، شوهد «جويل» وهو يتعثر بعد رمي حامل الميكروفون، لكنه تمكن من استكمال العرض بمساعدة فرقته.
«جويل»، الذي اشتهر بصراحته بشأن التقدم في العمر وتحدياته الصحية، تحدث سابقاً عن صراعاته مع إدمان الكحول والمخدرات، بالإضافة إلى معاناته مع الصحة النفسية التي قادته إلى محاولة انتحار في وقت سابق من حياته.

Hydrocephalus is a condition that affects the brain and causes fluid to accumulate, leading to pressure on brain tissues and potentially causing problems with hearing, vision, and balance.
This announcement came via his Instagram account on Friday, where Joel explained that the symptoms of the condition had worsened during his recent live performances.
He noted that he is currently undergoing intensive physical therapy based on his doctors' recommendations, with advice to avoid performing on stage during his recovery period.
The singer expressed his regret for disappointing his fans, thanking them for their continued support, and said, "I am grateful for the excellent medical care I am receiving, and I look forward to returning to the stage soon."
The canceled tour included performances in cities such as New York, New Orleans, Toronto, Santa Clara, Salt Lake City, Washington, D.C., and Liverpool.
Ticket refunds will be processed automatically for fans without the need for any action.
This announcement comes after Joel postponed his tour last March for four months due to undergoing surgery, where he confirmed that the postponement was necessary for recovery and physical therapy.
Fans reacted to the news by sending messages of support and wishes for a speedy recovery via social media, with one writing, "Take your time to recover, we need you with us for a long time!" while others wondered if the health condition was related to his concerning fall on stage last February during a concert at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut.
In that incident, Joel was seen stumbling after throwing the microphone stand, but he managed to complete the performance with the help of his band.
Joel, who is known for his candidness about aging and its health challenges, has previously spoken about his struggles with alcohol and drug addiction, as well as his mental health issues that led to a suicide attempt earlier in his life.
Despite these challenges, he expressed happiness with his ability to move forward, saying, "I am content with my life, I hold no grudges, and I live a happy ending."
