لم تكن الرائحة الغريبة التي انتشرت في أجواء أحد العقارات بمحافظة القليوبية المصرية مجرد مصدر إزعاج للجيران، بل كانت الخيط الذي قاد الشرطة إلى جريمة قتل ظلت تفاصيلها مخفية داخل شقة سكنية.
وبعد تلقي بلاغ من السكان بشأن انبعاث رائحة كريهة من إحدى الشقق، تحركت الأجهزة الأمنية إلى المكان لفحص مصدرها، قبل أن تكشف المفاجأة عن جثمان ربة منزل في العقد الرابع من عمرها، ملفوفًا بأغطية داخل منزلها، وعلى جسدها آثار إصابات بالغة.
وبدأت خيوط الواقعة تتكشف سريعًا، إذ أشارت التحريات الأولية إلى نشوب خلاف بين الضحية وزوجها، البالغ من العمر 40 عامًا، تطور إلى مشاجرة اعتدى خلالها عليها بمطرقة حديدية، ما أسفر عن إصابتها في الرأس ووفاتها.
وكانت طفلتهما البالغة من العمر 6 سنوات موجودة داخل المنزل وقت وقوع الجريمة، وفق ما توصلت إليه التحقيقات الأولية.
وبعد الواقعة، اتجه الزوج، بحسب التحريات، إلى محاولة إخفاء ما حدث، فلف جثمان زوجته بالأغطية وتركه داخل الشقة، كما استخدم معطرات في محاولة للتخلص من الرائحة ومنع انكشاف الجريمة.
لكن الخطة لم تصمد طويلًا، إذ التقط الجيران الرائحة وأبلغوا الأجهزة الأمنية، لتبدأ بعدها عملية البحث التي قادت إلى الجثمان وكشفت ملابسات الواقعة.
وألقت الشرطة القبض على الزوج، فيما أفادت التحقيقات الأولية بأنه أقر بارتكاب الجريمة، كما أرشد المحققين إلى المطرقة التي يُشتبه في استخدامها في الاعتداء.
وبذلك، تحولت رائحة أثارت شكوك الجيران إلى مفتاح كشف جريمة قتل داخل شقة سكنية، بعدما ظن المتهم أن إخفاء الجثمان وإخفاء آثاره يمكن أن يؤخر انكشاف الحقيقة.

The threads of the incident began to unravel quickly, as initial investigations indicated that a dispute had erupted between the victim and her husband, who is 40 years old, escalating into a fight during which he attacked her with a metal hammer, resulting in head injuries and her death.
Their 6-year-old daughter was present in the house at the time of the crime, according to initial investigations.
After the incident, the husband, according to the investigations, attempted to conceal what had happened, wrapping his wife's body in blankets and leaving it inside the apartment, as well as using air fresheners in an attempt to eliminate the smell and prevent the crime from being uncovered.
However, the plan did not hold for long, as neighbors detected the smell and reported it to the security forces, leading to a search operation that uncovered the body and revealed the circumstances of the incident.
The police arrested the husband, while initial investigations indicated that he admitted to committing the crime and directed investigators to the hammer suspected of being used in the assault.
Thus, the smell that raised the neighbors' suspicions became the key to uncovering a murder inside an apartment, after the accused thought that hiding the body and covering up the evidence could delay the revelation of the truth.
