The security authorities in Egypt revealed the full details regarding the arrest of six individuals involved with the independent investigative platform "Matdakhlish," ending the ambiguity and secrecy that surrounded the disappearance of the platform's crew and the raid on their residences within twenty-four hours.
In recent hours, a rapid series of raids targeted the homes of the journalists working for the platform, starting from Monday night until Tuesday morning. The platform confirmed in an initial statement that the raids resulted in the complete arrest of the editorial team, placing them in full detention, while the legal team for the journalists noted a loss of communication with them and their inability to contact their families or lawyers to determine their places of detention.
In contrast, the Egyptian Ministry of Interior issued a statement revealing the details of the investigations, clarifying that the platform is unlicensed and is managed from abroad on behalf of the media committees of the Muslim Brotherhood by a fugitive named Abdel Rahman Shokry. The investigations indicated that the six suspects present in Egypt were preparing false and fabricated news to send to him for publication in exchange for receiving financial funding from abroad.
The Egyptian Interior Ministry pointed out that the legal procedures resulted in the arrest of the six network members, noting that among those arrested, only one person is registered with the Journalists' Syndicate, while the other five suspects do not hold any syndicate affiliation. The authorities confirmed that the head of the Journalists' Syndicate was informed of the background and circumstances surrounding the detention of the mentioned journalist, in preparation for referring all suspects to the Public Prosecution to take the necessary legal actions.
