بعد نحو 15 عاماً من الاختباء خلف جدار أسمنتي، عادت مئات الكتب والمجلدات إلى النور داخل منزل في مدينة حمص السورية، بعدما أخفاها أب لحماية مكتبة نجله في ظل المخاوف من المداهمات والمساءلة خلال عهد النظام السابق.
وتعود المكتبة إلى بلال علوان، المقيم في الكويت، إذ قرر والده «أبو بلال» إخفاءها خلف جدار داخل المنزل وعزلها بصورة محكمة، بدلاً من تركها عرضة للضياع أو التلف في ظل الظروف التي كانت تشهدها المدينة آنذاك.
مئات الكتب
وبعد نحو عقد ونصف، هُدم الجدار لتظهر خلفه مئات الكتب والمجلدات العلمية والدينية، إلى جانب إجازات في القراءات القرآنية وشهادات ووثائق شخصية، فيما بدت محتويات المكتبة بحالة جيدة رغم سنوات الإغلاق الطويلة.
وأوضح بلال أن ما عُثر عليه يمثل جزءاً من مكتبته الخاصة التي تركها قبل سفره، مشيراً إلى أن والده حرص على تأمين الكتب وعزلها بشكل محكم لحمايتها.
كيف نجت من التلف؟
ويُرجح أن يكون العزل المحكم أحد العوامل التي ساعدت في الحفاظ على الكتب طوال تلك السنوات، إذ يساعد الحد من الرطوبة وتسرب المياه والتعرض للضوء على حماية الورق من العفن والتلف وتقليل تدهور الصفحات والأحبار بمرور الوقت.
عودة بعد غياب
وأثارت قصة المكتبة تفاعلاً واسعاً على منصات التواصل الاجتماعي، خصوصاً مع ظهور محتوياتها بحالة جيدة بعد سنوات طويلة من إخفائها.

After nearly 15 years of hiding behind a concrete wall, hundreds of books and volumes have returned to light inside a house in the Syrian city of Homs, after a father concealed them to protect his son's library amid fears of raids and accountability during the previous regime.
The library belongs to Bilal Alwan, who resides in Kuwait, as his father "Abu Bilal" decided to hide it behind a wall inside the house and isolate it securely, rather than leaving it vulnerable to loss or damage given the circumstances the city was experiencing at that time.
Hundreds of books
After about a decade and a half, the wall was demolished to reveal hundreds of scientific and religious books and volumes, along with licenses in Quranic readings and personal certificates and documents, while the contents of the library appeared to be in good condition despite the long years of closure.
Bilal explained that what was found represents part of his personal library that he left behind before his departure, noting that his father was keen to secure the books and isolate them properly to protect them.
How did they survive damage?
It is likely that the secure isolation was one of the factors that helped preserve the books throughout those years, as reducing humidity, preventing water leakage, and limiting exposure to light helps protect the paper from mold and damage and reduces the deterioration of pages and inks over time.
A return after absence
The story of the library sparked widespread interaction on social media platforms, especially with the appearance of its contents in good condition after many years of concealment.
After nearly 15 years behind the wall, hundreds of books and documents have returned to light, in a story that has brought back to the forefront possessions that remained hidden for years before returning to their owners once again.
