At a time when foreign security agencies were flipping through the pages of the archive of research pursuits and issuing strict orders through the "Interpol" organization to track down a 22-year-old Swedish man, wanted in a case of "attempted murder," the international fugitive believed he had mastered the game of complete disappearance by hiding within the alleys of the Moroccan city of Tangier, far from the eyes of European justice.
The calculations of the "great escape" did not last long, as the crowded coastal streets were merely the last stop of an adventure built on the trick of identity theft and forgery, where the suspect confidently stopped in front of a security checkpoint of the Moroccan judicial police, presenting a driver's license containing forged personal information, betting that the borrowed identity mask would safely carry him to the area of safety.
At that moment, the end of the escape story began, and his true identity was revealed after his arrest on charges of forgery. Additionally, a swift blow prepared by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) in field coordination with the Tangier police turned the tables again, as matching his data within the database of internationally wanted persons resulted in a stunning surprise, lighting up the security screens with a red notice calling for immediate detention at the request of the Swedish judicial authorities.
When the European wanted man was caught red-handed with forgery and identity theft, he was immediately taken into custody under the directives of the competent public prosecutor to decipher his presence and the networks that facilitated the forgery of his documents, while the "Interpol Rabat" office took charge of notifying its counterpart in Sweden about the inevitable end of the escape journey, in an operation that once again proved that cross-border corridors are no longer a safe haven for high-profile fugitives from international justice.
