The investigation authorities in Sohag decided today, Tuesday, to detain the suspect in the case of the murder of his wife and two young men in the Al-Shoush housing area, along with his brother, for 15 days pending investigations, as part of the ongoing examination and uncovering the circumstances of the crime that shook the area in recent hours.
The relevant authorities continue to review the details of the incident that resulted in the deaths of three people, amid accounts indicating that there were disputes preceding the crime, linked to messages and clips received by the suspect while he was in Libya; which raised his suspicions and prompted him to return to Egypt.
According to initial investigations, the security agencies received a report of a murder occurring inside the Al-Shoush housing area, where the bodies of a woman and two young men were found, having been attacked with a white weapon. The forces moved to the site of the report, imposed a security cordon, and began collecting evidence and examining the crime scene.
After listening to the statements of the suspects and reviewing the investigations, a decision was made to detain the suspect and his brother for 15 days, while investigations continue to determine the nature of the roles attributed to each of them and to uncover the true motive behind the crime.
Alongside the ongoing investigations, details have emerged regarding what has come to be known in the media as the "Sohag Wife Video," as the suspect's statements indicate that he received messages and clips from unknown accounts while in Libya, prompting him to return and confront his wife, before events escalated into an attack that resulted in her death, followed by the murder of two young men in an incident whose circumstances are still under examination.
The investigation authorities are looking into the relationship of the two young men with the suspect, and whether they are connected to the content he received, in addition to verifying the source of the messages and clips, and the possibility of electronic blackmail attempts preceding the crime.
Investigations are still ongoing to uncover the complete sequence of events and determine the main motive, while the detention decision remains a legal procedure to continue the examination, without representing a final judgment of conviction.
