The Houthis realize that Saudi patience has its limits, and they know well that the strings of that patience are not stretched indefinitely. The Houthis are aware that the Kingdom has ample military and political alternatives and options, as well as solid alliances, with the international community standing by its side, starting from the United Nations Security Council and ending with the condemnation and denunciation from the international community that has condemned the blatant Houthi aggression against civilian targets, oil and economic facilities, and innocent civilians.
The Houthis believe that their desperate attempts to occupy the port of Al-Mokha, infiltrate the islands overlooking Bab al-Mandab, and their insistence on imposing a ban on oil tankers will fulfill Iran's hopes of closing the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab to ships and tankers. This is a mistaken perception, as it represents an obstruction to international navigation and a halt to the flow of oil to countries around the world. The world will not stand idly by in the face of attempts to disrupt these strategic waterways. Those who believe that closing Bab al-Mandab can turn into a pressure card ignore the fact that this passage is not a limited regional issue, but rather an international artery where the economic interests and energy security of the world intersect. Furthermore, the Houthis' control over Bab al-Mandab would impact the operation of the Suez Canal, which is a matter of concern for the economies of all countries worldwide.
There is no doubt that the current phase requires the Yemeni legitimate forces to reorganize their ranks and intensify their strikes against the Houthi terrorist militia. These pressures should be reinforced by putting aside the side disputes among the forces that make up the Yemeni legitimate forces. The battle against the Houthis is not just a battle against a coup militia, but rather a battle against the Iranian project, which seeks to devour all of Yemen and exploit it to serve its expansionist goals.
Standing against the Iranian project is an urgent necessity to unify the ranks of the free Yemeni forces determined to break free from the shackles of the Houthi-Iranian project.
Iran seeks to encircle the entire Gulf region by closing the Strait of Hormuz and launching attacks with drones and ballistic missiles, while simultaneously stoking unrest in Arab countries: Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq, and inciting its agents and proxies in those countries to sabotage settlement projects by stirring up strife and provoking sectarianism.
Saudi Arabia - as confirmed by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan - insists on keeping the door of diplomacy open because the problems of the region will not be solved through violence and confrontation. Saudi Arabia has shown a great deal of restraint, as evidenced by its refusal to respond to the conspiracy to sabotage the East-West pipeline from Iraqi territory. This patience should not be seen as weakness or leniency. All parties in the region know that Saudi Arabia possesses one of the strongest armed forces in the region, and if it wanted to use it according to the logic of power and rapid deterrence, its strikes would be decisive and deterrent. However, the Kingdom is prepared to maintain its strategic patience until the horizons for solutions widen, and Iran realizes that escalation will put the entire world in confrontation with it. If the Iranian knot is untied, its proxies will cease their harm and will seek peace, even if it is fragile; because they are merely followers and pawns of Tehran. But if Iran continues to hold the fate of the region's countries hostage to developments in its war with the United States, the countries of the region and the world will unite to repel the harm and confront its perpetrators, and Iran will find itself in international and regional isolation.
Goodwill should be met with a similar response. The silence over the aggression of the Houthi militia will not last long, especially if Iran does nothing to rein in its proxy militias, foremost among them the terrorist Houthi militia in Yemen and its affiliated Popular Mobilization forces in Iraq. Saudi Arabia does not want a comprehensive war in the region or beyond, as war has a high cost for everyone, indeed for the entire world. Therefore, it has chosen to endure the harm from schemers, haters, and opportunists... but for a time, not indefinitely.
It is certain that Saudi Arabia has not been a transient party in Yemen, and Yemen's security will not be a marginal file for it. Yemen's security is part of Saudi national security, and the security of the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab is part of the security of the entire region. Therefore, Saudi support for Yemen and legitimate forces is not merely a transient political stance, but is linked to precise security and strategic calculations that transcend the borders of the two countries.
