لم يدرك إعلامي رياضي شهير أن دقائق معدودة يمر فيها على إحدى محطات الوقود بحدائق الأهرام في الجيزة بمصر، ستكلفه اختفاء حقيبة أموال كان يحملها داخل صندوق سيارته، ولا أن سيناريو السرقة أُعد بذكاء خاطف من شخص لم يثنه مكانه الوظيفي عن اقتناص الفرصة.
مجرد ثوانٍ قليلة من تشتت الانتباه كانت كافية لتبخر نصف مليون جنيه موجودة داخل حقيبة الإعلامي المصري، مما دفعه للتوجه سريعاً إلى قسم شرطة الهرم مدلياً بتفاصيل صدمته الأولى.
وتكفلت تحريات مباحث الجيزة وتفريغ كاميرات المراقبة داخل محطة وقود بإزاحة الستار عن الحيلة المباغتة، حيث تبين أن اللص المسؤول عن الخدعة لم يكن سوى أحد موظفي محطة الوقود نفسها. تظاهر العامل بتقديم خدمة تنظيف السيارة بابتسامة وهدوء، وأثناء ادعائه الانشغال بالمسح والترتيب، التقط الحقيبة المليئة بالنقود في غفلة من صاحبها.
ولم ينتظر السارق حتى انكشاف أمره لاحقاً، بل سارع بتقديم استقالته من العمل فوراً وغادر المكان بحقيبته الثمينة، يحدوه الأمل في تواري أثره نهائياً. لكن تتبع خط سير المتهم وفحص تسجيلات الكاميرات قاد أجهزة الأمن المصرية لتحديد مكانه ودقة تحركاته، ليتم إعداد كمين محكم أوقع به قبل أن يتمكن من التصرف في الأموال:
- اعتراف كامل: انهار المتهم أمام رجال الأمن واعترف بارتكاب الجريمة، مقرّاً بتفاصيل الخطة وتقديمه للاستقالة كغطاء للهرب.
- استعادة المبلغ: أرشد عن مخبأ الحقيبة، لتنجح المباحث المصرية في إعادة الـ500 ألف جنيه بالكامل لصاحبها.
وبقرار عاجل من النيابة العامة، تم حبس المتهم على ذمة التحقيقات لمتابعة الإجراءات القانونية المترتبة على هذه الجريمة.

The thief did not wait for his actions to be discovered later; instead, he hurriedly submitted his resignation and left the place with the precious bag, hoping to completely erase his traces. However, tracking the suspect's route and examining the camera recordings led Egyptian security forces to pinpoint his location and movements accurately, allowing them to set up a tight ambush that caught him before he could dispose of the money:
- Full confession: The suspect broke down in front of the security officers and confessed to committing the crime, admitting to the details of the plan and presenting his resignation as a cover for his escape.
- Recovery of the amount: He revealed the hiding place of the bag, enabling the Egyptian detectives to successfully return the entire 500,000 pounds to its owner.
By an urgent decision from the public prosecution, the suspect was detained pending investigations to follow up on the legal proceedings resulting from this crime.
