تحوّلت تجربة أول سيارة ذاتية القيادة مطوّرة محليًا في باكستان إلى مشهد كوميدي غير متوقع، بعدما انتهى العرض المباشر الذي كانت إحدى القنوات الإخبارية تبثه بافتتاح تقني واعد واصطدام صاخبٍ بسيارة شرطة.
وكان المراسل يجلس في المقعد الأمامي متحمسًا لعرض مزايا السيارة التي صمّمها شاب باكستاني، مؤكدًا أن البلاد تدخل عصر المركبات الذكية، بينما كانت السيارة تسير ببطء وثبات اعتمادًا على نظام القيادة الآلي. لكن لحظة الحماس لم تدم طويلًا.
فخلال البث، رصدت السيارة مركبة شرطة متوقفة على جانب الطريق، فاعتبرتها «هدفًا» يجب التوجه نحوه، لتبدأ بالانحراف تدريجيًا باتجاهها. حاول المراسل التدخل وسحب فرامل اليد لإنقاذ الموقف، إلا أن النظام الآلي تجاهل محاولته، قبل أن ترتطم السيارة بسيارة الشرطة بقوة، في مشهد دوّى صوته عبر الهواء مباشرة.
رجال الشرطة خرجوا من مركبتهم مذهولين، غير مستوعبين أن سيارة بلا سائق هي من اصطدمت بهم، فيما انتشر الفيديو سريعًا على منصات التواصل الاجتماعي، محققًا مشاهدات واسعة وموجة من التعليقات الساخرة التي حولت التجربة التقنية إلى مادة ترفيهية لرواد الإنترنت.
ورغم الطابع الطريف للحادثة، أثارت الواقعة نقاشًا حول جاهزية تقنيات القيادة الذاتية في البلاد، والحاجة إلى اختبارها في بيئات أكثر أمانًا قبل عرضها للجمهور.

The reporter was sitting in the front seat, excited to showcase the features of the car designed by a young Pakistani, emphasizing that the country is entering the era of smart vehicles, while the car was moving slowly and steadily relying on the automated driving system. However, the moment of excitement did not last long.
During the broadcast, the car detected a police vehicle parked on the side of the road, considering it a "target" to head towards, and began to gradually veer in its direction. The reporter attempted to intervene and pull the handbrake to save the situation, but the automated system ignored his attempt, before the car collided forcefully with the police car, in a scene that echoed live through the air.
Police officers emerged from their vehicle in shock, unable to comprehend that a driverless car had collided with them, while the video quickly spread across social media platforms, garnering wide views and a wave of sarcastic comments that turned the technical experience into entertainment for internet users.
Despite the humorous nature of the incident, the event sparked a discussion about the readiness of self-driving technologies in the country, and the need to test them in safer environments before presenting them to the public.
