انتقلت قصة الطالبة السورية رؤى محمود شيخ محمد من منصات التواصل الاجتماعي لتتحول إلى قضية رأي عام وصلت أصداؤها إلى أروقة البرلمان والحكومة اليمنية، عقب استبعاد اسمها من قائمة أوائل الثانوية العامة رغم حصولها على معدل استثنائي بلغت نسبته 99.25%.
الأزمة اندلعت فور إعلان نتائج القسم العلمي، إذ فوجئ الشارع اليمني بغياب اسم الطالبة المقيمة في محافظة المهرة عن قائمة الأوائل التي ضمت 16 طالباً تراوحت معدلاتهم بين 99.88% و97.5%، ما يعني أن معدل رؤى تجاوز أسماء عدة أُدرجت رسمياً. ورغم التكهنات بوجود لوائح استبعاد خاصة بالطلبة الوافدين، كسر صمت الوزارة موجة غضب عارمة بين إعلاميين وأكاديميين طالبوا بإقالة وزير التربية والتعليم، مؤكدين أن معيار التفوق لا يخضع للهويات الوطنية.
وفي خضم التضامن الواسع، أطلت رؤى عبر مقابلة مصورة عبرت فيها عن حزنها بكلمات مؤثرة لاقت انتشاراً واسعاً، قائلة: «التفوق لا جنسية له»، مشددة على تمسكها بحلمها في دراسة الطب البشري مهما كانت العقبات.
التفاعل السياسي لم يتأخر، إذ وجه نائب رئيس مجلس النواب محسن علي باصرة مذكرة رسمية للوزارة تشكك في الأسس القانونية لاستبعادها وتطالب بإنصافها، بينما وجه رئيس مجلس القيادة الرئاسي رشاد العليمي مراجعة فورية لكافة التظلمات الشائبة لنتائج الثانوية.
وفي ختام درامي للأزمة، أعلنت جامعة خاصة في عدن تقديم منحة دراسية كاملة للطالبة رؤى لدراسة الطب البشري، احتفاءً بتفوقها وتكريساً لأواصر الأخوة العربية.
The story of the Syrian student Rowa Mahmoud Sheikh Mohammed has moved from social media platforms to become a public issue that has resonated in the halls of the Yemeni parliament and government, following her name being excluded from the list of top students in the general secondary school despite her achieving an exceptional average of 99.25%.
The crisis erupted immediately after the announcement of the results for the scientific section, as the Yemeni public was shocked by the absence of the student residing in Al-Mahra governorate from the list of top students, which included 16 students with averages ranging from 99.88% to 97.5%. This means that Rowa's average surpassed several names that were officially listed. Despite speculations about the existence of exclusion lists specifically for foreign students, the ministry broke its silence amid a wave of outrage among journalists and academics who demanded the dismissal of the Minister of Education, asserting that the standard of excellence should not be subject to national identities.
In the midst of widespread solidarity, Rowa appeared in a video interview where she expressed her sadness with touching words that went viral, saying: “Excellence has no nationality”, emphasizing her determination to pursue her dream of studying medicine regardless of the obstacles.
The political response did not take long, as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Ali Basra, directed an official memorandum to the ministry questioning the legal grounds for her exclusion and demanding justice for her, while the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, called for an immediate review of all questionable grievances regarding the secondary school results.
In a dramatic conclusion to the crisis, a private university in Aden announced a full scholarship for student Rowa to study medicine, in celebration of her excellence and in dedication to the bonds of Arab brotherhood.
