سجّل المركز السعودي لزراعة الأعضاء إنجازًا طبيًا وإنسانيًا لافتًا خلال الأسبوع الماضي، بعد نجاحه في التنسيق لإجراء أربع عمليات استئصال أعضاء من متبرعين متوفين دماغيًا، أسهمت في منح الحياة لـ14 مريضًا كانوا يعانون من فشل عضوي حاد، بينهم أربعة أطفال.
ويأتي هذا الإنجاز امتدادًا لجهود وطنية متصاعدة لتعزيز ثقافة التبرع بالأعضاء، وتطوير منظومة الرعاية الصحية في المملكة.
وتمت عمليات الاستئصال والزراعة بالتعاون مع عددٍ من الجهات الطبية داخل المملكة وخارجها؛ شملت: مستشفى جون هوبكنز أرامكو الظهران، مستشفى الإمام عبدالرحمن الفيصل، مستشفى رفحاء المركزي، ومستشفى الملك عبدالعزيز بجدة، في نموذج يعكس مستوى التنسيق المتقدم بين المؤسسات الصحية.
وشملت العمليات ثلاث زراعات قلب أحدها لطفل أنهت معاناته مع الفشل القلبي، وثلاث زراعات كبد بينها حالة لطفل يعاني من فشل كبدي، إضافة إلى زراعتين للرئة، وخمس عمليات زراعة كلى أنهت معاناة مرضى من جلسات الغسيل، إلى جانب عملية زراعة كلية وبنكرياس لمريض كان يعاني من فشل مزدوج.
وأكد المدير العام للمركز السعودي لزراعة الأعضاء، الدكتور طلال القوفي، أن توزيع الأعضاء تم وفق أعلى المعايير الأخلاقية والطبية، بما يضمن العدالة وتقديم الأعضاء للمرضى الأكثر احتياجًا وفق الأولويات الصحية. وأشاد بالتعاون الكبير بين الجهات الطبية، وبالدور المحوري لإدارة الإخلاء الطبي الجوي في نقل الأعضاء والفرق الطبية بسرعة وكفاءة.
وعبّر القوفي عن تقديره العميق لعائلات المتبرعين الذين اختاروا التبرع بأعضاء ذويهم، مؤكدًا أن هذا القرار الإنساني النبيل أسهم في إنقاذ أرواح متعددة، ويمثل قيمة إنسانية عظيمة تستحق الإشادة والدعاء.
ويأتي هذا الإنجاز في وقت تشهد فيه المملكة توسعًا ملحوظًا في برامج التبرع بالأعضاء، وارتفاعًا في معدلات الوعي المجتمعي، إلى جانب تطوير البنية التحتية الطبية، ما يعزز قدرة القطاع الصحي على التعامل مع الحالات الحرجة وإنقاذ المزيد من الأرواح.
The Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation achieved a remarkable medical and humanitarian milestone last week, successfully coordinating four organ removal surgeries from brain-dead donors, which contributed to giving life to 14 patients suffering from acute organ failure, including four children.
This achievement is part of ongoing national efforts to enhance the culture of organ donation and develop the healthcare system in the Kingdom.
The removal and transplantation surgeries were conducted in collaboration with several medical institutions both inside and outside the Kingdom, including: Johns Hopkins Aramco Hospital in Dhahran, Imam Abdulrahman Al Faisal Hospital, Rafha Central Hospital, and King Abdulaziz Hospital in Jeddah, reflecting a high level of coordination among health institutions.
The surgeries included three heart transplants, one of which was for a child who ended his suffering with heart failure, and three liver transplants, including a case for a child suffering from liver failure, in addition to two lung transplants, and five kidney transplant surgeries that ended the suffering of patients from dialysis sessions, along with a kidney and pancreas transplant for a patient who was suffering from dual failure.
The Director General of the Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation, Dr. Talal Al-Qufi, confirmed that the distribution of organs was carried out according to the highest ethical and medical standards, ensuring fairness and providing organs to the most needy patients based on health priorities. He praised the significant cooperation among medical entities and the pivotal role of the air medical evacuation management in quickly and efficiently transporting organs and medical teams.
Al-Qufi expressed his deep appreciation to the families of the donors who chose to donate their loved ones' organs, emphasizing that this noble humanitarian decision contributed to saving multiple lives and represents a great human value that deserves recognition and prayer.
This achievement comes at a time when the Kingdom is witnessing a notable expansion in organ donation programs and an increase in community awareness rates, along with the development of medical infrastructure, enhancing the healthcare sector's ability to handle critical cases and save more lives.
