أنقذت السلطات الإندونيسية 172 شخصًا بعد اندلاع حريق مفاجئ في عبّارة كانت تُبحر من جزيرة بالي السياحية باتجاه لومبوك، بينما تتواصل عمليات البحث عن أي ركاب مفقودين قد يكونون في مياه مضيق لومبوك.
ووفقًا للجهات المختصة، فإن الحادث وقع في وقت مبكر من صباح (اليوم الأربعاء)، مخلفًا حالة من الذعر بين الركاب، ومؤديًا إلى وفاة شخص واحد على الأقل.
وأوضح رئيس الجهة المحلية المسؤولة عن عمليات الإنقاذ، محمد هاريادي، أن العبّارة (كيه.إم بوتري ياسمين) غادرت ميناء بادانجباي في بالي متجهة إلى ميناء ليمبار في لومبوك، قبل أن تشتعل فيها النيران على بُعد 45 كيلومترًا من الساحل. وأضاف أن الحريق اندلع عند الساعة 04:39 صباحًا بالتوقيت المحلي (20:39 بتوقيت غرينتش)، ما استدعى استنفارًا واسعًا شمل نشر قوارب إنقاذ إضافية والتنسيق مع السفن القريبة من موقع الحادث.
وأشار هاريادي إلى أن أكثر من 200 فرد شاركوا في عملية الإجلاء، التي جرت وسط ظروف بحرية صعبة، مؤكدًا أن التحقيقات ما زالت جارية لمعرفة سبب اندلاع الحريق، وما إذا كان للاكتظاظ دور في تفاقم الحادث.
وتعد هذه الواقعة واحدة من الحوادث البحرية التي تُعيد تسليط الضوء على تحديات السلامة في خطوط النقل البحري بين جزر إندونيسيا.
The Indonesian authorities rescued 172 people after a sudden fire broke out on a ferry that was sailing from the tourist island of Bali towards Lombok, while search operations continue for any missing passengers who may be in the waters of the Lombok Strait.
According to the relevant authorities, the incident occurred early this morning (Wednesday), leaving a state of panic among the passengers and resulting in at least one death.
The head of the local agency responsible for the rescue operations, Muhammad Haryadi, explained that the ferry (KM Putri Yasmin) left Padangbai port in Bali heading to Lembar port in Lombok before catching fire 45 kilometers from the coast. He added that the fire broke out at 04:39 AM local time (20:39 GMT), prompting a wide-scale mobilization that included deploying additional rescue boats and coordinating with nearby vessels at the scene.
Haryadi noted that more than 200 individuals participated in the evacuation operation, which took place under difficult maritime conditions, emphasizing that investigations are still ongoing to determine the cause of the fire and whether overcrowding played a role in exacerbating the incident.
This incident is one of the maritime accidents that highlights the safety challenges in maritime transport routes between Indonesia's islands.
