أعلنت رابطة كرة القدم للمحترفين في كولومبيا تعليق منافسات الدوري المحلي لمدة أسبوع، تضامناً مع ضحايا الزلزال المدمر الذي ضرب مناطق واسعة من البلاد وخلف عشرات القتلى والمصابين.
وجاء قرار تعليق المنافسات عقب تقييم الأوضاع في المدن والمناطق المتضررة من الكارثة، في وقت تواصل فيه فرق الإنقاذ عمليات البحث عن ناجين، بينما تعمل السلطات على حصر الخسائر الناجمة عن الزلزال.
وبحسب البيانات الواردة، بلغت قوة الزلزال الذي ضرب غرب كولومبيا في 10 أغسطس، 7.4 درجة على مقياس ريختر، فيما ارتفعت حصيلة القتلى إلى 164 شخصاً، إلى جانب أضرار مادية واسعة في المناطق المنكوبة.
وقالت رابطة الدوري الكولومبي إن جميع الأندية المحترفة الـ36 المشاركة في الدرجتين الأولى والثانية ستخصص هذا الأسبوع لدعم المجتمعات المتضررة، وتسخير إمكاناتها ومواردها للمساعدة في عمليات الإغاثة والتعافي.
وأكدت الرابطة في بيان أن «كرة القدم يمكن أن تنتظر.. كولومبيا تحتاج إلينا»، مشيرة إلى أن تعليق المنافسات يعكس تضامن أسرة كرة القدم مع الشعب الكولومبي في مواجهة الظروف الاستثنائية التي تمر بها البلاد.
ولم يتوقف تأثير الزلزال عند حدود المسابقات المحلية، إذ امتد إلى البطولات القارية، بعدما أعلنت «كونميبول» تأجيل مباراتين، احتراماً للضحايا ومراعاةً للظروف الأمنية واللوجستية الناجمة عن الكارثة.
وشمل قرار التأجيل مواجهة إنديبندينتي سانتا في الكولومبي وريفر بليت الأرجنتيني في بطولة كأس سود أمريكانا، إلى جانب مباراة ديبورتيس توليما الكولومبي وإنديبندينتي ديل فايي الإكوادوري في كأس ليبرتادوريس.
ويأتي تعليق منافسات كرة القدم في وقت تتركز فيه جهود السلطات وفرق الطوارئ على المناطق الأكثر تضرراً، وسط استمرار عمليات الإنقاذ وتقييم الأضرار التي خلفها الزلزال.
ويعكس قرار الأندية والرابطة توظيف كرة القدم، باعتبارها إحدى أكثر الرياضات حضوراً وتأثيراً في المجتمع الكولومبي، في دعم جهود الإغاثة والتضامن مع المتضررين، بدلاً من إقامة المنافسات الرياضية في ظل استمرار تداعيات الكارثة.
The Colombian Professional Football Association announced the suspension of the local league competitions for a week, in solidarity with the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck large areas of the country, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries.
The decision to suspend the competitions came after assessing the situation in the cities and regions affected by the disaster, while rescue teams continue their search for survivors, and authorities work to assess the damages caused by the earthquake.
According to the reported data, the earthquake that struck western Colombia on August 10 had a magnitude of 7.4 on the Richter scale, while the death toll rose to 164 people, along with extensive material damage in the affected areas.
The Colombian league association stated that all 36 professional clubs participating in the first and second divisions will dedicate this week to supporting the affected communities, utilizing their capabilities and resources to assist in relief and recovery efforts.
The association confirmed in a statement that "football can wait... Colombia needs us," indicating that the suspension of competitions reflects the solidarity of the football family with the Colombian people in facing the extraordinary circumstances the country is going through.
The impact of the earthquake did not stop at the local competitions, as it extended to continental tournaments, after "CONMEBOL" announced the postponement of two matches, in respect for the victims and consideration of the security and logistical circumstances resulting from the disaster.
The postponement decision included the match between Colombian Independiente Santa Fe and Argentine River Plate in the Copa Sudamericana, as well as the match between Colombian Deportes Tolima and Ecuadorian Independiente del Valle in the Copa Libertadores.
The suspension of football competitions comes at a time when the efforts of authorities and emergency teams are focused on the most affected areas, amidst ongoing rescue operations and damage assessments left by the earthquake.
The decision of the clubs and the association reflects the use of football, as one of the most present and influential sports in Colombian society, to support relief efforts and solidarity with the affected, instead of holding sporting competitions while the repercussions of the disaster continue.
