An unusual scene in the streets of Los Angeles astonished passersby and social media users, as a man was seen living inside a room suspended above a giant billboard in Hollywood, in an innovative promotional campaign for the new sci-fi thriller film (The Last House).
The suspended room was built about 30 feet above the famous Sunset Boulevard, near the intersection of Sunset and Selma Avenue, and was designed as a fully detailed living room: complete with furniture, books, playing cards, binoculars, and dim lighting that mimicked the atmosphere of isolation. Inside, a real performer appeared behind transparent windows, communicating with passersby through a whiteboard on which he wrote short messages, in a scene that felt more like a social experiment than a traditional advertisement.
According to Entertainment Weekly and People, the man was not part of a fixed decoration; he actually lived in the suspended space for three days from August 6 to 8, in a move aimed at simulating the film's plot, which revolves around a family that finds itself trapped inside a completely sealed house, with no way out, as their resources dwindle and the external threat grows increasingly mysterious.
The billboard carried a provocative message: ?How long can you survive, directly referencing the film's central question about the ability to endure within a confined space.
The campaign coincided with the film's release on Netflix on August 7, 2026, starring Greta Lee and Wagner Moura, alongside Riley Chung, Emma Ho, Noah Alexander Sosnowski, and Gabriel Barbosa, with direction by Louis Leterrier and a screenplay by Matthew Robinson. The film has a runtime of about one hour and fifty minutes.
The campaign sparked widespread interaction on social media, as images and clips of the man suspended inside the billboard circulated, raising questions about the reality of his presence there, before it became clear that it was one of the boldest promotional campaigns in Hollywood this year, literally bringing the film's concept from the screen to the street.
