أعادت السلطات الأسترالية فتح واحدة من أكثر القضايا صدمة، بعدما وُجهت تهمة القتل إلى امرأة تبلغ من العمر 32 عاماً، إثر اتهامها بقتل طفلها البالغ من العمر أربع سنوات، وسط مزاعم بأنها أكلت جزءاً من جثمانه قبل أن تسلم نفسها للشرطة طواعية.
ووفقاً للتحقيقات، حضرت المرأة إلى مركز الشرطة في ولاية «نيو ساوث ويلز» مساء (الأحد)، وأدلت باعترافات أولية أشارت فيها إلى ارتكابها أفعالاً تتعلق بأكل لحوم البشر بحق طفلها، ما دفع رجال الأمن إلى التوجه فوراً إلى منزلها في شارع «بايرون» بمنطقة «وايونغ».
وعثر عناصر الشرطة داخل المنزل على جثة الطفل، التي أظهرت إصابات بالغة في إحدى ذراعيه، فيما أفادت شبكة «ناين نيوز» الأسترالية بأن الطفل يُرجح أنه كان قد فارق الحياة قبل أيام عدة من اكتشاف الجريمة.
كما نقلت صحيفتا «سيدني مورنينغ هيرالد» و«ديلي تلغراف» عن مصادر مطلعة أن الاشتباه في ممارسة أكل لحوم البشر جاء بعد مناقشات واستجوابات أجرتها الشرطة مع الأم، ولا تزال التحقيقات مستمرة لكشف ملابسات القضية كاملة.
The Australian authorities have reopened one of the most shocking cases after a 32-year-old woman was charged with murder, following allegations that she killed her four-year-old child, amid claims that she consumed part of his body before voluntarily turning herself in to the police.
According to investigations, the woman arrived at a police station in New South Wales on Sunday evening and made preliminary confessions indicating that she had committed acts of cannibalism against her child, prompting law enforcement to immediately head to her home on Byron Street in the Woyong area.
Police officers found the child's body inside the home, which showed severe injuries to one of his arms, while the Australian Nine News network reported that the child is believed to have died several days before the crime was discovered.
Both the Sydney Morning Herald and the Daily Telegraph quoted informed sources stating that the suspicion of cannibalism arose after discussions and interrogations conducted by the police with the mother, and investigations are still ongoing to uncover the full circumstances of the case.
