تواجه شابة تركية تُدعى إليف شاهين، تبلغ من العمر 32 عامًا، مصيرًا قضائيًا معقدًا، بعدما صدرت بحقها أحكام بالسجن تصل إلى 127 عامًا، إثر إدانتها في 157 جريمة سرقة، فيما يثير حملها الثامن تساؤلات حول موعد تنفيذ العقوبة.
وبحسب وسائل إعلام تركية، داهمت قوة كبيرة من الشرطة الخاصة منزلًا في إسطنبول للقبض على شاهين، بعد فترة من التهرب من تنفيذ الأحكام الصادرة بحقها، إذ أظهر مقطع فيديو لحظة المداهمة بمشاركة عناصر مدججين بالسلاح.
وتشير التحقيقات إلى أن المتهمة أنجبت سبعة أطفال خلال السنوات الماضية، مستفيدة من القوانين التركية التي تحول دون سجن المرأة الحامل، ما مكّنها من تأجيل تنفيذ العقوبات أكثر من مرة. غير أن السلطات بدأت أخيرًا إجراءات تنفيذ الحكم بعد انتهاء مهلة التأجيل.
لكن المفاجأة التي أعادت الملف إلى الواجهة تمثلت في اكتشاف حملها بطفلها الثامن، وهي في شهرها الثالث، الأمر الذي قد يمنحها فرصة جديدة لتأجيل دخول السجن، رغم المخاوف من استمرارها في نشاطها الإجرامي خلال فترة بقائها خارج القضبان.
وتؤكد التحقيقات أن شاهين، واصلت تنفيذ عمليات سرقة خلال الفترة الماضية، ورصدتها كاميرات مراقبة داخل عدد من مراكز التسوق أثناء ارتكابها جرائم سرقة جديدة.
ولا يقتصر ملفها القضائي على الأحكام الصادرة بحقها، إذ لا تزال مطلوبة بموجب 18 مذكرة توقيف إضافية، تشمل اتهامات بسرقة ممتلكات من داخل مبانٍ، والاستيلاء بمهارة على مقتنيات محمولة.
ومن المرجح أن ترتفع مدة العقوبة الإجمالية في حال صدور أحكام جديدة بحقها، فيما لم تحسم السلطات التركية بعد ما إذا كانت ستبدأ تنفيذ الحكم خلال حملها الثامن أم سيجري تأجيل العقوبة مرة أخرى.
ويبلغ عمر أكبر أبناء شاهين 12 عامًا، فيما يبلغ أصغرهم عامين، وسط جدل واسع في تركيا حول استغلال بعض النساء الحمل المتكرر لتأجيل تنفيذ العقوبات القضائية.

A 32-year-old Turkish woman named Elif Şahin is facing a complex judicial fate, having been sentenced to a total of 127 years in prison after being convicted of 157 thefts, while her eighth pregnancy raises questions about when her sentence will be carried out.
According to Turkish media, a large force of special police raided a house in Istanbul to arrest Şahin, after she had evaded the enforcement of the sentences against her for some time, as a video showed the moment of the raid with armed officers participating.
Investigations indicate that the accused has given birth to seven children over the past years, benefiting from Turkish laws that prevent the imprisonment of pregnant women, which has allowed her to postpone the execution of her sentences multiple times. However, authorities have recently begun the process of enforcing the sentence after the postponement period ended.
The surprise that brought the case back into the spotlight was the discovery of her pregnancy with her eighth child, as she is in her third month, which may give her a new opportunity to delay her entry into prison, despite concerns about her continuing her criminal activities while remaining outside of jail.
Investigations confirm that Şahin continued to carry out thefts during the past period, and she was captured by surveillance cameras inside several shopping centers while committing new thefts.
Her legal case is not limited to the sentences already issued against her, as she is still wanted under 18 additional arrest warrants, which include charges of stealing property from inside buildings and skillfully seizing portable belongings.
The total duration of her sentence is likely to increase if new rulings are issued against her, while Turkish authorities have not yet decided whether to begin enforcing the sentence during her eighth pregnancy or if the punishment will be postponed again.
Şahin's oldest child is 12 years old, while her youngest is two, amid widespread debate in Turkey about some women exploiting repeated pregnancies to delay the enforcement of judicial sentences.
