أعلنت منظمة الصحة العالمية، اليوم (الخميس)، انتهاء تفشي فيروس هانتا المرتبط بسفينة الرحلات السياحية «هونديوس»، مشيرة إلى عدم تسجيل أي حالات جديدة منذ 25 مايو الماضي.
وقال المدير العام لمنظمة الصحة العالمية، تيدروس أدهانوم جيبريسوس: «إن آخر شخص كان تحت المراقبة أنهى فترة الحجر الصحي، وجاءت نتيجة فحصه سلبية، وعاد إلى منزله، مما أتاح للمنظمة التابعة للأمم المتحدة الإعلان رسميًا عن انتهاء تفشي الفيروس، وتم تسجيل 13 حالة إصابة مؤكدة وثلاث حالات وفاة».
وأوضح جيبريسوس أنه تم تحديد ومتابعة أكثر من 650 مخالطًا في حوالى 30 دولة خلال فترة التفشي.
وتعرض عدد من الركاب للإصابة بسلالة «أنديز» النادرة من الفيروس خلال الرحلة على متن سفينة الرحلات الفاخرة «هونديوس»، ويعّد متحور «الأنديز» السلالة الوحيدة المعروفة من فيروس هانتا القادرة على انتقال محدود بين البشر، في حين تنتقل فيروسات هانتا عادة عبر القوارض، من خلال جزيئات تنطلق من فضلاتها وتنتقل عبر انتشار الغبار.
The World Health Organization announced today (Thursday) the end of the outbreak of the Hanta virus associated with the cruise ship "Hondius," noting that no new cases have been reported since May 25.
The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, stated: "The last person under observation has completed their quarantine period, tested negative, and returned home, allowing the United Nations agency to officially declare the end of the virus outbreak. A total of 13 confirmed cases and three deaths were recorded."
Ghebreyesus explained that more than 650 contacts were identified and monitored in about 30 countries during the outbreak.
Several passengers were infected with the rare "Andes" strain of the virus during the voyage aboard the luxury cruise ship "Hondius." The "Andes" variant is the only known strain of the Hanta virus capable of limited human-to-human transmission, while Hanta viruses typically spread through rodents via particles released from their droppings and transmitted through dust particles.
