شهد مستشفى رانغوييل بمدينة تولوز الفرنسية حالة طوارئ غير مسبوقة، بعد أن تسبّب شاب يبلغ من العمر 24 عامًا في استنفار أمني واسع، عقب اكتشاف وجود قذيفة مدفعية حية تعود إلى الحرب العالمية الأولى داخل جسده.
وبحسب ما نقلته صحيفة «ميرور»، وصل الشاب إلى قسم الطوارئ مساء السبت وهو يعاني آلامًا حادة وحالة صحية حرجة، ما استدعى إخضاعه لفحوصات عاجلة والتدخل الجراحي الفوري.
وخلال العملية، فوجئ الفريق الطبي بجسم معدني غريب تبيّن لاحقًا أنه قذيفة مدفعية غير منفجرة، مصنوعة من النحاس الأصفر، يبلغ طولها نحو 20 سنتيمترًا وعرضها 4 سنتيمترات، ويعود تاريخها إلى أواخر الحرب العالمية الأولى.
وتحوّلت الحالة الطبية سريعًا إلى أزمة أمنية، بعدما أدرك الطاقم الطبي خطورة القذيفة، الأمر الذي استدعى التواصل الفوري مع خبراء المتفجرات. ووصلت قوات الشرطة إلى المستشفى قرابة الساعة 1:40 فجرًا، حيث فُرض طوق أمني مشدد حول قسم الحوادث والطوارئ.
وبدافع الحيطة والحذر، جرى إخلاء المرضى والعاملين من المستشفى، فيما تم استدعاء فرق الإطفاء تحسّبًا لأي خطر محتمل خلال التعامل مع القذيفة. وأكد خبراء المتفجرات لاحقًا أن الذخيرة من عيار 37 ملم، وهي من النوع الذي استخدمه الجيش الإمبراطوري الألماني في نهاية الحرب العالمية الأولى.
وأفادت مصادر أمنية بأن الشاب قد يخضع للاستجواب خلال الأيام المقبلة، في وقت يدرس فيه الادعاء العام اتخاذ إجراءات قانونية بحقه بتهمة حيازة والتعامل مع «ذخائر من الفئة أ»، وسط غموض يلفّ الكيفية التي انتهت بها القذيفة داخل جسده، دون صدور تفسير رسمي حتى الآن.
The Rangueil Hospital in Toulouse, France, experienced an unprecedented state of emergency after a 24-year-old man triggered a wide security alert when a live artillery shell from World War I was discovered inside his body.
According to the "Mirror" newspaper, the young man arrived at the emergency department on Saturday evening suffering from severe pain and a critical health condition, which necessitated urgent examinations and immediate surgical intervention.
During the operation, the medical team was surprised to find a strange metallic object that later turned out to be an unexploded artillery shell, made of brass, measuring about 20 centimeters in length and 4 centimeters in diameter, dating back to the late World War I.
The medical case quickly turned into a security crisis when the medical staff realized the danger posed by the shell, prompting immediate communication with explosives experts. Police forces arrived at the hospital around 1:40 AM, where a tight security cordon was imposed around the accident and emergency department.
As a precaution, patients and staff were evacuated from the hospital, and firefighting teams were summoned in anticipation of any potential danger while dealing with the shell. Explosives experts later confirmed that the ammunition was of 37 mm caliber, the type used by the Imperial German Army at the end of World War I.
Security sources reported that the young man may be subjected to questioning in the coming days, while the public prosecution is considering legal action against him for possession and handling of "Class A ammunition," amidst uncertainty regarding how the shell ended up inside his body, with no official explanation issued so far.
