أُجبرت المحكمة العليا في ولاية أريزونا، على الإخلاء الكامل، بعد اكتشاف طرد مشبوه في غرفة البريد الداخلية للمبنى الواقع قرب وسط مدينة فينيكس، إلى جانب عدة مبانٍ حكومية مجاورة في منطقة كابيتول مول.
بدأت الحادثة نحو الساعة 8:00 صباحاً عندما تلقت إدارة الأمن في المبنى إشعاراً بوجود طرد بدون عنوان مرسل في غرفة البريد، وانتقلت على الفور فرق من إدارة السلامة العامة في أريزونا، بالتعاون مع مكتب مكتب الكحول والتبغ والأسلحة النارية والمتفجرات في فينيكس، وشرطة المدينة، لفحص الطرد.
وأكدت التحاليل الأولية أن الطرد يحتوي على عدة قوارير، اثنان منها اختبرا إيجابياً لاحتوائهما على مادة متفجرة منزلية الصنع، حيث تم نقل الطرد لاحقاً بواسطة فني متفجرات مدرب يرتدي بدلة واقية إلى وعاء احتواء متفجرات متنقل، ثم نقله إلى موقع آمن للتعامل معه (غالباً التفجير المتحكم فيه).
وأغلقت السلطات الشوارع المحيطة وأُجلي الموظفون والزوار، وأُعلن عن السماح للموظفين الحكوميين بالعمل عن بعد لبقية اليوم، ولم يُبلغ عن وقوع إصابات أو انفجار فعلي، ولم تُكشف بعد هوية المرسل أو الدوافع.
وتأتي الحادثة في سياق تصاعد التهديدات الأمنية ضد المؤسسات القضائية والحكومية في الولايات المتحدة خلال السنوات الأخيرة، خصوصا بعد التوترات السياسية المرتبطة بانتخابات 2024 و2025، وقضايا حساسة مثل قوانين التصويت، الإجهاض، وتمويل الحملات الانتخابية التي تنظر فيها المحكمة العليا الأريزونية بانتظام.
وشهدت منطقة فينيكس في اليوم نفسه تهديدات قنبلة أخرى في ضاحية قريبة، مما يشير إلى موجة محتملة من التهديدات، كما سجلت الولايات المتحدة في 2025 ارتفاعاً ملحوظاً في حوادث التهديدات بالقنابل ضد المطارات والمؤسسات التعليمية والدينية، غالبيتها غير حقيقية، لكن بعضها يحمل مواد خطرة فعلية.
The Arizona Supreme Court was forced into a complete evacuation after a suspicious package was discovered in the building's internal mailroom, located near downtown Phoenix, alongside several neighboring government buildings in the Capitol Mall area.
The incident began around 8:00 AM when the building's security received a notification about an unaddressed package in the mailroom, and teams from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, in collaboration with the Phoenix Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and city police, immediately moved in to inspect the package.
Initial analyses confirmed that the package contained several vials, two of which tested positive for containing homemade explosive material. The package was later transported by a trained bomb technician wearing a protective suit to a mobile explosive containment vessel, and then moved to a safe location for handling (likely a controlled detonation).
Authorities closed the surrounding streets and evacuated employees and visitors, announcing that government employees would be allowed to work remotely for the rest of the day. No injuries or actual explosions were reported, and the identity of the sender or the motives have not yet been disclosed.
This incident comes amid a rise in security threats against judicial and government institutions in the United States in recent years, particularly following the political tensions related to the 2024 and 2025 elections, and sensitive issues such as voting laws, abortion, and campaign financing that the Arizona Supreme Court regularly reviews.
On the same day, the Phoenix area experienced another bomb threat in a nearby suburb, indicating a potential wave of threats. The United States recorded a significant increase in bomb threat incidents against airports, educational institutions, and religious organizations in 2025, most of which were hoaxes, but some contained actual hazardous materials.
