أعلنت وزارة الداخلية البريطانية وصول 41,472 مهاجرًا إلى المملكة المتحدة عبر عبور القنال الإنجليزي في قوارب صغيرة خلال عام 2025 كاملاً، في ثاني أعلى حصيلة سنوية منذ بدء تسجيل هذه الإحصاءات في عام 2018.
ويمثل هذا الرقم زيادة بنسبة 13% مقارنة بعام 2024 الذي سجل فيه 36,816 وافدًا، وزيادة بنسبة 41% عن عام 2023 الذي بلغ 29,437.
ورغم أن العدد لم يتجاوز الرقم القياسي المسجل في 2022 والذي بلغ 45,774 مهاجرًا، إلا أنه يُعد الأعلى منذ ذلك العام، مما يبرز استمرار أزمة الهجرة غير الشرعية كواحدة من أبرز القضايا السياسية والأمنية في بريطانيا.
زيادة كبيرة في 2025
وأوضحت السلطات البريطانية أن النصف الأول من العام شهد وصول 19,982 شخصًا، وهو رقم قياسي لهذه الفترة، وأن أكبر يوم وصول سجل في 31 مايو 2025 بـ1,195 مهاجرًا على متن 19 قاربًا، وأكبر قارب في عام 2025 حمل 125 مهاجرًا في 27 سبتمبر.
وأوضحت الداخلية البريطانية أن متوسط الأشخاص لكل قارب ارتفع إلى 62 شخصًا مقارنة بـ53 في 2024 و49 في 2023، مما يعكس ازدياد الكثافة والمخاطر، في حين شهدت عمليات الهجرة غير الشرعية فترة توقف لمدة 28 يومًا بدون عبور من 15 نوفمبر إلى 12 ديسمبر بسبب الرياح القوية، ثم عودة النشاط بقوة في منتصف ديسمبر بـ803 وافدين في 21 ديسمبر – رقم قياسي لشهر ديسمبر.
حصيلة «مخجلة» للحكومة البريطانية
ووصفت وزارة الداخلية الأرقام بأنها «مخجلة»، مؤكدة أن الشعب البريطاني يستحق أفضل من ذلك، وأشارت الحكومة إلى إجراءاتها مثل إعادة نحو 50,000 شخص غير شرعي حتى الآن، واتفاق «واحد مقابل واحد» مع فرنسا لإعادة الوافدين، وإصلاحات جذرية أعلنتها وزيرة الداخلية شبانا محمود لتقليص الحوافز مثل جعل اللجوء مؤقتًا وتمديد فترة الإقامة الدائمة إلى 20 عامًا.
وبدأت أزمة عبور القوارب الصغيرة بشكل ملحوظ في 2018 والتي بلغت 299 وافدًا فقط، ثم تصاعدت بسرعة لتصل إلى ذروتها في 2022، ومنذ 2018 وحتى نهاية 2025، بلغ إجمالي الوافدين عبر القنال 192,610 أشخاص وفقًا لوزارة الداخلية.
وتُقدر المنظمة الدولية للهجرة وفيات مرتبطة بالرحلة إلى بريطانيا بأكثر من 36 حالة في 2025 وحدها، بينما يُقدر الإجمالي منذ 2018 بحوالى 152–245 حالة وفاة بما في ذلك حوادث أخرى مرتبطة.
The British Home Office announced that 41,472 migrants arrived in the United Kingdom via the English Channel in small boats throughout the entire year of 2025, marking the second highest annual total since these statistics began being recorded in 2018.
This figure represents a 13% increase compared to 2024, which recorded 36,816 arrivals, and a 41% increase from 2023, which saw 29,437.
Although the number did not exceed the record high of 45,774 migrants recorded in 2022, it is the highest since that year, highlighting the ongoing crisis of illegal immigration as one of the most prominent political and security issues in Britain.
Significant Increase in 2025
The British authorities clarified that the first half of the year saw the arrival of 19,982 individuals, a record number for this period, with the largest single day of arrivals recorded on May 31, 2025, with 1,195 migrants aboard 19 boats, and the largest boat in 2025 carried 125 migrants on September 27.
The British Home Office stated that the average number of people per boat increased to 62 compared to 53 in 2024 and 49 in 2023, reflecting increased density and risks. Meanwhile, illegal migration experienced a 28-day pause with no crossings from November 15 to December 12 due to strong winds, followed by a strong resurgence in mid-December with 803 arrivals on December 21 – a record for the month of December.
“Shameful” Toll for the British Government
The Home Office described the figures as “shameful,” emphasizing that the British people deserve better. The government pointed to its measures, such as returning nearly 50,000 illegal individuals so far, a “one-for-one” agreement with France for returning arrivals, and radical reforms announced by Home Secretary Suella Braverman to reduce incentives, such as making asylum temporary and extending the period for permanent residency to 20 years.
The small boat crossing crisis began noticeably in 2018, when only 299 individuals arrived, then rapidly escalated to peak in 2022. From 2018 until the end of 2025, the total number of arrivals via the Channel reached 192,610 individuals, according to the Home Office.
The International Organization for Migration estimates that there were over 36 deaths related to the journey to Britain in 2025 alone, while the total since 2018 is estimated to be around 152–245 deaths, including other related incidents.
