The investigative authorities at the Cairo Criminal Court in Egypt decided yesterday (Wednesday) to release the famous TikToker Mohamed Shakir, known as "Shakir Mahzour," on a bail of 500,000 Egyptian pounds, pending investigations into accusations of publishing and broadcasting indecent videos through his accounts on social media platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram.

This decision represents a new judicial development in the series of legal proceedings faced by "Shakir Mahzour," who has millions of followers and became famous for videos containing suggestive content and language deemed contrary to Egyptian family values, aimed at increasing viewership and generating financial profits.

Details of the Arrest of Shakir Mahzour

The main case began in August 2025 when security forces arrested him inside a café in New Cairo, based on multiple reports accusing him of misusing social media and violating family values.

During the arrest, he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and quantities of narcotics (hashish and ice), which added charges of drug possession and weapon possession to his case.

Release in Previous Cases

At that time, he was released in the drug and weapon cases, but he remained in custody pending another case related to money laundering estimated at around 100 million Egyptian pounds, derived from illegal activities through digital platforms, with his assets such as luxury cars and residential units being seized.

As the investigations progressed, some cases were referred to criminal trial, and he faced repeated renewals of his pretrial detention, before the decision was issued yesterday to release him on bail in the main charge related to the indecent content.

Shakir Mahzour remains prohibited from disposing of his assets until the investigations into the financial charges are concluded and his banking transactions are reviewed by the Public Funds Investigation Department.
