أعلنت شركة باسيفيك غاز آند إليكتريك (PG&E) وإدارة الطوارئ في مدينة سان فرانسيسكو الأمريكية، اليوم (الأحد)، عودة التيار الكهربائي لنحو 95,000 إلى 100,000 عميل بعد انقطاع واسع النطاق أثر على نحو 130,000 عميل يوم السبت 20 ديسمبر.

ويمثل هذا الانقطاع نحو ثلث سكان المدينة التي يبلغ عدد سكانها نحو 800,000 نسمة، وتركز بشكل أساسي في الأحياء الغربية والشمالية مثل ريتشموند، سنسيت، بريسيديو، وغولدن غيت بارك.
ازدحام مروري وظلام في سان فرانسيسكو
بدأ الانقطاع صباح السبت الساعة 9:40 صباحاً، وتفاقم بعد حريق اندلع في محطة فرعية تابعة لـPG&E في شارعي 8th وMission الساعة 2:15 مساءً، فيما تمكنت إدارة الإطفاء من إخماد الحريق باستخدام ثاني أكسيد الكربون، ولم يسفر عن إصابات.
وأكدت الشركة أن الشبكة استقرت بحلول المساء، وبدأت استعادة التيار تدريجياً من الساعة 9:10 مساءً، مع استمرار العمل طوال الليل لإعادة التيار للـ35,000 المتبقين.
أثار انقطاع الكهرباء في سان فرانسيسكو
وأدى الانقطاع في التيار الكهربائي إلى ازدحام مروري شديد بسبب توقف إشارات المرور، وإغلاق مؤقت لمتاجر ومطاعم، وتعطيل خدمات النقل العام مثل مترو موني وبارت (إغلاق محطات مثل إمباركاديرو وفان نيس).
كما علقت شركة وايمو خدمات سياراتها ذاتية القيادة بعد توقف بعضها في الشوارع المظلمة، مما تسبب في فوضى مرورية إضافية.
ونصحت إدارة الطوارئ السكان بتجنب السفر غير الضروري، معاملة التقاطعات المعطلة كوقف رباعي الاتجاهات، وإغلاق أبواب الثلاجات للحفاظ على الطعام، مع عدم الاتصال برقم الطوارئ إلا في الحالات الحرجة.
Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) and the emergency management department of San Francisco, USA, announced today (Sunday) the restoration of power to approximately 95,000 to 100,000 customers after a widespread outage affected around 130,000 customers on Saturday, December 20.

This outage represents about a third of the city's population, which is around 800,000 residents, and was primarily concentrated in the western and northern neighborhoods such as Richmond, Sunset, Presidio, and Golden Gate Park.
Traffic Congestion and Darkness in San Francisco
The outage began on Saturday morning at 9:40 AM and worsened after a fire broke out at a PG&E substation at the intersection of 8th and Mission Streets at 2:15 PM. The fire department managed to extinguish the fire using carbon dioxide, and there were no injuries reported.
PG&E confirmed that the network stabilized by evening, and power restoration began gradually from 9:10 PM, with work continuing throughout the night to restore power to the remaining 35,000 customers.
Impact of the Power Outage in San Francisco
The power outage led to severe traffic congestion due to non-functioning traffic signals, temporary closures of stores and restaurants, and disruption of public transportation services such as Muni and BART (closure of stations like Embarcadero and Van Ness).
Waymo also suspended its self-driving car services after some vehicles became stranded in the dark streets, causing additional traffic chaos.
The emergency management department advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel, treat non-functioning intersections as four-way stops, keep refrigerator doors closed to preserve food, and only call emergency numbers in critical situations.
