أصدرت السلطات الأمريكية أوامر بالإخلاء الفوري لـ 3 ضواح في مدينة سياتل بولاية واشنطن، بعد انهيار سد إثر أسبوع من الأمطار الغزيرة. وأدى انهيار سد في ولاية واشنطن بعد أيام من الأمطار الغزيرة إلى إصدار تحذير من الفيضانات المفاجئة وأوامر إخلاء، لكن السلطات قالت (الإثنين) إن أعمال الإصلاح جارية.
ونقلت صحيفة «سياتل تايمز» عن مدير إدارة الطوارئ في مقاطعة كينغ بريندان ماكلوسكي، قوله، بأن أعمال الإصلاح قد تستغرق عدة ساعات، وأن المسؤولين يراقبون عن كثب سد ديسيمون في توكويلا على طول نهر غرين، على بعد نحو خمسة أميال جنوب وسط مدينة سياتل، حيث جرفت مياه الفيضانات جزءًا من السد بحجم سيارة.
وأعلنت هيئة الأرصاد الجوية الوطنية أن تحذيرها من الفيضانات المتعلقة بانهيار السد سيظل ساري المفعول حتى الساعة التاسعة مساءً على الأقل من (الثلاثاء).
وأعلنت قوات الحرس الوطني في ولاية واشنطن أنها سترسل عناصر منها إلى مقاطعة كينغ، والتي بدأت بالفعل بتقديم المساعدة لسكان المناطق المتضررة من الفيضانات في غرب الولاية خلال عطلة نهاية الأسبوع.
وأعربت السلطات عن قلقها بشأن انهيار السدود لعدة أيام في جميع أنحاء ولاية واشنطن، حيث ضربت الأمطار الغزيرة مساحة واسعة من شمال غرب المحيط الهادئ.

The dam failure in Washington state, after days of heavy rain, led to flash flood warnings and evacuation orders, but officials said on Monday that repair work is underway.
The Seattle Times reported that Brendan McCluskey, the director of the King County Emergency Management, stated that the repair work could take several hours, and that officials are closely monitoring the Desimone Dam in Tukwila along the Green River, about five miles south of downtown Seattle, where floodwaters washed away a portion of the dam the size of a car.
The National Weather Service announced that its flood warning related to the dam failure will remain in effect until at least 9 PM on Tuesday.
The Washington National Guard announced that it will send personnel to King County, which has already begun assisting residents in flood-affected areas in the western part of the state over the weekend.
Authorities expressed concern about dam failures for several days across Washington state, as heavy rains have hit a wide area of the Pacific Northwest.
