سجّلت بريطانيا 6 إصابات جديدة بداء التهاب السحايا في مقاطعة كِنت جنوب شرق إنجلترا، في إطار تفشٍ للمرض أسفر عن حالتي وفاة حتى الآن.
وأكّدت وكالة الأمن الصحي البريطانية تسجيل (15) حالة حتى مساء الأربعاء الماضي، فيما لا تزال (12) حالة أخرى قيد التحقيق، ليرتفع إجمالي الحالات المؤكدة والمشتبه بها إلى (27) حالة، مقارنة بـ(20) حالة في اليوم السابق.
وحذرت السلطات من احتمال ارتفاع عدد الإصابات، نظرًا إلى أن فترة حضانة المرض تتراوح بين يومين و(14) يومًا، مؤكدةً استمرار الاستجابة الوطنية لاحتواء التفشي.
وأطلقت الجهات الصحية برنامج تطعيم موجهًا لطلبة جامعة كِنت، وذلك بتوفير نحو ألفي جرعة من اللقاح ابتداءً من أمس (الخميس).

The UK Health Security Agency confirmed the registration of (15) cases as of last Wednesday evening, while (12) other cases are still under investigation, raising the total number of confirmed and suspected cases to (27), compared to (20) cases the previous day.
The authorities warned of the possibility of an increase in the number of infections, as the incubation period for the disease ranges from two days to (14) days, confirming that the national response to contain the outbreak is ongoing.
The health authorities have launched a vaccination program aimed at students at the University of Kent, providing about two thousand doses of the vaccine starting yesterday (Thursday).
