Train services have completely stopped on the Matrouh – Moharram Bek line following a collision between a passenger train and a transport vehicle while crossing between the Dabaa and Jalal stations. The incident caused one of the train cars to derail, resulting in a temporary halt of train operations on the line, amid the mobilization of emergency and railway teams to deal with the incident and clear the aftermath.

The relevant authorities are conducting an investigation to determine the causes of the collision, while efforts are underway to restore train services as soon as possible, after ensuring the safety of the line and the passengers.

The National Authority for Egyptian Railways issued a statement regarding the incident of a passenger train colliding with a transport vehicle, which resulted in a complete halt of train services on the Matrouh - Moharram Bek line.

The railway authority's statement read as follows: In the context of monitoring operational procedures on the network, at exactly 17:55, a report was received from the driver of train number 299/3971 Express Marsa Matrouh – Moharram Bek, indicating that an incident occurred during the train's journey at kilometer 175/00 between the areas of Jalal and Dabaa, due to a collision with transport vehicle number 2861 B D H, loaded with electricity poles, crossing the railway track from an unauthorized location.

It added: The collision resulted in pushing the violating vehicle outside the railway boundary, while causing the front bogie of car number 115445/1 behind the sleeper to fall off, with no injuries reported among the passengers or the train crew and no significant damages recorded. Specialized technical teams have been dispatched to handle the incident and restore movement on the line and take the necessary legal actions.

The statement concluded: The National Authority for Egyptian Railways urges all citizens and vehicle drivers to fully adhere to safety regulations and not to cross from unauthorized areas, in order to protect lives and property, and to prevent the recurrence of such incidents that pose a serious threat to the safety and regularity of operations.
