ضرب زلزال بقوة 5.7 درجة على مقياس ريختر بنغلاديش، (الجمعة)، مخلّفاً 5 قتلى على الأقل (بينهم طفل) ونحو 100 جريح، فيما شعر بالهزات سكان عدة ولايات هندية مجاورة.
زلزال نارسينغدي في بنغلاديش
ووقع مركز الزلزال في مدينة نارسينغدي على بعد 40 كيلومتراً شرق العاصمة دكا، وفقاً للحكومة الانتقالية التي يرأسها البروفيسور محمد يونس الحائز على جائزة نوبل للسلام.
وأفادت الشرطة بأن 3 من القتلى لقوا حتفهم عندما انهار درابزين مبنى من 6 طوابق أثناء الهزة، بينما لم تُعلن تفاصيل وفاة الضحيتين الأخريين بعد، فيما نُقل العشرات إلى المستشفيات، وبعضهم في حالة حرجة، خصوصاً من منطقة مركز الزلزال.
وقال محمد يونس في بيان رسمي إن بين المصابين طلاباً من جامعة دكا وعمال مصانع في مدينة غازيبور وعدداً من سكان نارسينغدي، وأمر الحكومة بتكثيف عمليات الإنقاذ ورصد الأضرار في جميع المناطق المتضررة.

شهود عيان في دكا وصفوا لحظات الرعب وقال أحد السكان سومن رحمن: «شعرنا بهزة قوية جداً، كأن الأبنية تهتز كالأشجار، ازدحمت السلالم بالناس الهارعين إلى الشارع، الأطفال يبكون، والجميع في حالة ذعر تام».
وأفادت إدارة الإطفاء بإصابة عدد من الأشخاص جراء سقوط الطوب والإسمنت من مبانٍ قيد الإنشاء، كما انهارت بعض الهياكل المؤقتة في أحياء شعبية.
تأثر الهند بزلزال بنغلاديش
وفي الهند المجاورة، شعر سكان ولايات تريبورا وميغالايا وآسام بالهزات، لكن السلطات قالت إنه لم تُسجل أضرار كبيرة حتى الآن. وتواصل فرق الإنقاذ والطوارئ عمليات المسح الميداني، وسط مخاوف من هزات ارتدادية محتملة.
A 5.7 magnitude earthquake struck Bangladesh on Friday, leaving at least 5 dead (including a child) and around 100 injured, while residents of several neighboring Indian states felt the tremors.
Narsingdi Earthquake in Bangladesh
The epicenter of the earthquake was in the city of Narsingdi, located 40 kilometers east of the capital Dhaka, according to the transitional government led by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus.
The police reported that 3 of the deceased died when the railing of a 6-story building collapsed during the tremor, while details regarding the deaths of the other two victims have not yet been announced. Dozens were transported to hospitals, some in critical condition, particularly from the area near the epicenter.
In an official statement, Muhammad Yunus mentioned that among the injured were students from Dhaka University, factory workers in Gazipur, and several residents of Narsingdi, and he ordered the government to intensify rescue operations and assess the damage in all affected areas.
Moments of Terror in Dhaka
Eyewitnesses in Dhaka described moments of terror, with one resident, Suman Rahman, stating: “We felt a very strong tremor, as if the buildings were shaking like trees. The stairs were crowded with people rushing to the street, children were crying, and everyone was in a state of complete panic.”
The fire department reported that several people were injured due to falling bricks and concrete from buildings under construction, and some temporary structures collapsed in popular neighborhoods.
India Affected by Bangladesh Earthquake
In neighboring India, residents of the states of Tripura, Meghalaya, and Assam felt the tremors, but authorities stated that no significant damage has been reported so far. Rescue and emergency teams continue field surveys amid fears of possible aftershocks.
