في حادثة مروعة، هاجم دب رمادي (غريزلي) مجموعة من تلاميذ المدرسة الابتدائية ومعلميهم أثناء رحلة سير على مسار مشي في منطقة بيلا كولا بمقاطعة بريتش كولومبيا الكندية، ما أسفر عن إصابة 11 شخصاً، اثنان منهم في حالة حرجة جداً.
دب يهاجم طلاب مدرسة
وقع الهجوم مساء الخميس في منطقة نائية تبعد 700 كيلومتر شمال غرب فانكوفر، داخل أراضي أمة نوكسالك الأولى (السكان الأصليين).
تحذير للسكان
وأكدت الأمة في بيان عاجل عبر وسائل التواصل أن «الدب العدواني لا يزال طليقاً»، وحذرت السكان من مغادرة منازلهم أو السير على الطريق السريع، مشيرة إلى أن عناصر الشرطة وضباط حماية الحياة البرية موجودون في الموقع وهم مسلحون.
حالة المصابين
وقال المتحدث باسم خدمات الطوارئ الصحية بريان تويتس إن شخصين في حالة حرجة، واثنين آخرين إصاباتهما خطيرة، بينما عولج الباقون في موقع الحادثة. وتم نقل المصابين الحرجين جواً إلى مستشفيات متخصصة.
فيرونيكا سكونر، والدة أحد التلاميذ، قالت لوسائل إعلام محلية، إن معلماً «تحمل الهجوم كاملاً» لحماية الأطفال، وكان من بين من نُقلوا بالمروحية، وكان ابنها ألفاريز (10 سنوات) من بين طلاب الصف الرابع والخامس المشاركين في الرحلة، وأخبرها أنه «شعر بفراء الدب وهو يمر بجواره بسرعة ليهاجم شخصاً آخر».
رد المدرسة
من جانبها، أعلنت مدرسة أكوسالتكا المستقلة التي تديرها أمة نوكسالك الأولى إغلاق أبوابها الجمعة، وتوفير جلسات دعم نفسي للتلاميذ وأسرهم.
وكتبت المدرسة في منشور على فيسبوك: «لا نجد الكلمات في هذا الوقت العصيب، نشكر فريقنا وطلابنا على شجاعتهم».
تعقب الدب العدواني
وتواصل فرق البحث والإنقاذ عملية تعقب الدب العدواني في المنطقة الجبلية الكثيفة الأشجار، وسط مخاوف من هجمات إضافية.
وتُعد هذه الواقعة من أخطر حوادث الدببة التي تستهدف مجموعات مدرسية في كندا منذ سنوات.
In a horrifying incident, a grizzly bear attacked a group of elementary school students and their teachers during a hiking trip in the Bella Coola area of British Columbia, Canada, resulting in 11 people being injured, two of whom are in very critical condition.
Bear Attacks School Students
The attack occurred on Thursday evening in a remote area 700 kilometers northwest of Vancouver, within the territory of the Nuxalk Nation (Indigenous peoples).
Warning to Residents
The nation confirmed in an urgent statement via social media that "the aggressive bear is still at large," warning residents not to leave their homes or walk on the highway, noting that police officers and wildlife protection officers are on site and armed.
Condition of the Injured
Brian Twaits, a spokesperson for health emergency services, stated that two individuals are in critical condition, and two others have serious injuries, while the rest were treated at the scene of the incident. The critically injured were airlifted to specialized hospitals.
Veronica Skoner, the mother of one of the students, told local media that a teacher "took the full brunt of the attack" to protect the children and was among those airlifted. Her son, Alvarez (10 years old), was among the fourth and fifth graders participating in the trip, and he told her that he "felt the bear's fur as it rushed past him to attack someone else."
School's Response
For its part, the independent Akosaltka School, managed by the Nuxalk Nation, announced it would close its doors on Friday and provide psychological support sessions for students and their families.
The school wrote in a Facebook post: "We find it hard to find words at this difficult time; we thank our team and our students for their bravery."
Tracking the Aggressive Bear
Search and rescue teams continue to track the aggressive bear in the densely wooded mountainous area, amid fears of additional attacks.
This incident is considered one of the most dangerous bear attacks targeting school groups in Canada in years.
