In an incident that sparked controversy in Egypt as parliamentary elections approach, a violent altercation broke out between a candidate for the House of Representatives from the Waraq district in Giza Governorate and a hair salon owner (a hairdresser), due to a financial dispute over an amount of 4,500 Egyptian pounds.
The incident, which took place in the popular Waraq area, escalated from a verbal argument to a physical confrontation, ending with both parties being referred to the Waraq police station for investigation.
The security authorities at the Waraq police station received a report from both parties indicating that a fight had occurred inside a beauty salon in the area. Upon arrival and inspection, it was found that the candidate had given the salon owner a sum of money for purchasing cosmetic materials, but a dispute arose between them after the candidate requested the amount to be returned, leading to an escalation of the argument and an exchange of accusations and insults inside the salon.
According to preliminary investigations, the financial dispute developed into a limited fight, prompting some bystanders to intervene to break it up before the police were notified.
