وكشف ترمب، عبر وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي، عن الحمّام الجديد في غرفة نوم لينكولن بعد تجديده برخام فاخر باللونين الأبيض والأسود.
أثار هذا الكشف موجة من الانتقادات من قبل دعاة الحفاظ على التراث والديمقراطيين، لفرضه طراز منتجعه مارالاغو على المبنى التاريخي.
وقال ترمب في منشوره الذي تضمن صورتين للحمام قبل وبعد التجديد: «جددت حمام لينكولن في البيت الأبيض. تم تجديده في الأربعينات بفن زخرفي بالبلاط الأخضر، والذي لم يكن مناسبًا على الإطلاق لعصر لينكولن».
وأضاف: «جددته برخام أبيض وأسود مصقول.. هذا مناسب تمامًا لعصر أبراهام لينكولن، وفي الواقع، ربما يكون هذا هو الرخام الذي كان موجودًا في الأصل!».
ولم يرد البيت الأبيض بعد على أسئلة حول ما إذا كان مشروع تجديد الحمام قد خضع لإجراءات رسمية تتعلق بالتصميم أو الموافقات.
وفي خطوة أثارت جدلًا واسعًا، أقدم الرئيس ترمب خلال الشهر الماضي على هدم الجناح الشرقي من البيت الأبيض بشكل مفاجئ، تمهيدًا لتشييد قاعة حفلات ورقص تبلغ مساحتها نحو 8360 مترًا مربعًا.

In his post, which included two pictures of the bathroom before and after the renovation, Trump stated: “I renovated the Lincoln bathroom in the White House. It was renovated in the 1940s with decorative green tile, which was not suitable at all for the Lincoln era.”
He added: “I renovated it with polished black and white marble... this is perfectly suitable for the era of Abraham Lincoln, and in fact, this may be the marble that was originally there!”
The White House has not yet responded to questions about whether the bathroom renovation project underwent formal design or approval processes.
In a move that sparked widespread controversy, President Trump unexpectedly demolished the East Wing of the White House last month, paving the way for the construction of a ballroom and dance hall covering approximately 8,360 square meters.
