في مياه شرق المحيط الهادئ، تحولت الأمواج إلى مسرح لعملية أمنية حاسمة، حيث قضت ضربة دقيقة على أربعة قوارب مشبوهة، ما أسفر عن مقتل 14 شخصاً، وفق ما أعلن وزير الدفاع الأمريكي بيت هيغسيث أمس (الثلاثاء)، في صراع مباشر مع شبكات تهريب المخدرات.
وقال هيغسيث، في منشور على منصة «X» إن "ما مجموعه 14 من مهربي المخدرات قُتلوا في ثلاث ضربات، فيما نجا شخص واحد فقط، وقد نفذت كل الضربات في المياه الدولية، دون وقوع إصابات في صفوف القوات الأمريكية.
وأضاف أن «القوارب الأربعة كانت معروفة لجهاز استخباراتنا، وكانت تسير عبر طرق معروفة لتهريب المخدرات، وتحمل مواد مخدرة».
وتضمن منشور هيغسيث لقطات مصوّرة للضربات، الأولى استهدفت زورقين ثابتين يبدوان مربوطين معاً، في حين تعرّض زورقان آخران كانا يبحران بسرعة في عرض البحر لضربتين أخريين.
وأضاف هيغسيث أن القيادة الجنوبية للولايات المتحدة باشرت «فوراً» البحث عن الناجي الوحيد من الضربات، وأن السلطات المكسيكية «قبلت القضية وتولت مسؤولية تنسيق عمليات الإنقاذ».
ولم يحدد ما إن كان عُثر على الناجي أو ما جرى له.
وقال هيغسيث عن مهربي المخدرات: «سنتتبعهم، وسنربط معلوماتنا الاستخبارية عنهم، ثم سنصطادهم ونقضي عليهم».
وبدأت الولايات المتحدة منذ مطلع سبتمبر الماضي، تنفيذ هذه الضربات التي يتساءل خبراء حيال شرعيتها، وقد دمّرت حتى الآن ما لا يقل عن 14 زورقاً في البحر الكاريبي والمحيط الهادئ، وبلغ عدد القتلى 57 شخصاً على الأقل.
In the waters of the Eastern Pacific Ocean, the waves became a stage for a critical security operation, where a precise strike took out four suspicious boats, resulting in the deaths of 14 individuals, as announced by U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth yesterday (Tuesday), in a direct confrontation with drug trafficking networks.
Hegseth stated in a post on the platform "X" that "a total of 14 drug traffickers were killed in three strikes, while only one person survived, and all strikes were carried out in international waters, with no injuries reported among U.S. forces.
He added that "the four boats were known to our intelligence, were traveling through known drug trafficking routes, and were carrying narcotics."
The post by Hegseth included footage of the strikes, the first targeting two stationary boats that appeared to be tied together, while two other boats that were speeding in open water were hit by two additional strikes.
Hegseth noted that the U.S. Southern Command immediately began searching for the sole survivor of the strikes, and that Mexican authorities "accepted the case and took responsibility for coordinating rescue operations."
It was not specified whether the survivor had been found or what happened to them.
Hegseth remarked about the drug traffickers: "We will track them, we will connect our intelligence on them, and then we will hunt them down and eliminate them."
The United States has been conducting these strikes since early September, raising questions among experts regarding their legality, and has so far destroyed at least 14 boats in the Caribbean and Pacific, with at least 57 fatalities reported.
