في تصعيد قانوني جديد، رفع الكاتب والإعلامي الأمريكي مايكل وولف دعوى قضائية ضد السيدة الأمريكية الأولى ميلانيا ترمب أمام محكمة ولاية نيويورك، بعد تلقيه إنذارًا من محاميها يطالبه بسحب تصريحات ربطت بينها وبين الملياردير الراحل جيفري إبستين.
وولف المعروف بانتقاده اللاذع للرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب ومؤلف أربعة كتب عنه، أكد أن الدعوى تأتي ردًا على ما وصفه بـ«محاولة ترهيب قانونية» تستهدف إسكات الصحافة ومنعها من تناول قضايا تتعلق بعائلة ترمب.
وتقدّر قيمة الدعوى بمليار دولار، وتتهم فريق ميلانيا بمحاولة «إساءة استخدام القضاء» لحماية صورتها العامة، خصوصًا بعد أن ألمحت بعض تصريحاته في مجلة «نيوزويك» إلى دورها في إدارة قضايا إبستين.
في المقابل، رفض فريق ميلانيا القانوني الاتهامات واعتبرها «كاذبة وتشهيرية»، مؤكدًا أن تصريحات وولف تتجاوز حدود حرية التعبير وتقع ضمن نطاق التشهير المتعمد.

In a new legal escalation, American writer and journalist Michael Wolff has filed a lawsuit against First Lady Melania Trump in New York State Court, after receiving a warning from her lawyer demanding that he retract statements linking her to the late billionaire Jeffrey Epstein.
Wolff, known for his sharp criticism of President Donald Trump and the author of four books about him, stated that the lawsuit is a response to what he described as a "legal intimidation attempt" aimed at silencing the press and preventing it from addressing issues related to the Trump family.
The lawsuit is estimated to be worth one billion dollars, accusing Melania's team of attempting to "abuse the judiciary" to protect her public image, especially after some of his statements in Newsweek hinted at her role in managing Epstein's affairs.
In contrast, Melania's legal team rejected the accusations, deeming them "false and defamatory," asserting that Wolff's statements exceed the bounds of free speech and fall within the realm of intentional defamation.
The case is currently being considered by the New York State Supreme Court, and it is expected to spark widespread controversy in media and political circles, especially after mentioning the possibility of calling Melania and Trump to testify.
