اصطدمت سيارة بمنطقة كان يقام فيها حفل عيد ميلاد في الهواء الطلق بضواحي واشنطن العاصمة مساء السبت، ما أسفر عن إصابة 9 أطفال وشخصين بالغين، قبل أن يلوذ السائق بالفرار.
وأوضحت شرطة مدينة بلادينسبرغ وإدارة الإطفاء وخدمات الطوارئ في مقاطعة برينس جورج أن فتاة وطفلاً صغيراً أصيبا بجروح خطيرة جراء الحادث.
وتراوح أعمار الضحايا الصغار بين سنة واحدة و17 سنة. كما أصيب ستة بالغين بجروح خطيرة لكنها لا تهدد حياتهم، وفقاً لما أوردته قناة «فوكس 5».
ووفقاً للشرطة، تم تحديد هوية المرأة التي لقيت حتفها في الحادث بأنها آشلي هرنانديز غوتيريز (31 عاماً) من واشنطن.
وأظهر مقطع فيديو تم نشره على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي خيمة بيضاء وقد تمزق الجزء الأمامي منها على عشب خارج أحد المنازل.
وأكدت الشرطة أن السائق ترجل من السيارة وفر هارباً، ولم يتم العثور عليه حتى الآن.
ولم يحدد المحققون سبب انحراف السيارة عن الطريق السريع رقم 450 في ماريلاند، وذلك في الساعة 10:15 السبت.
A car collided in an area where an outdoor birthday party was being held in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. on Saturday evening, resulting in the injury of 9 children and 2 adults, before the driver fled the scene.
The Bladensburg Police Department and the Prince George's County Fire and Emergency Services stated that a girl and a young boy sustained serious injuries due to the incident.
The ages of the young victims ranged from one year to 17 years. Six adults also suffered serious injuries, but they are not life-threatening, according to Fox 5.
According to the police, the woman who died in the incident has been identified as Ashley Hernandez Gutierrez (31 years old) from Washington.
A video posted on social media showed a white tent with its front part torn on the grass outside one of the homes.
The police confirmed that the driver got out of the car and fled, and he has not been found yet.
Investigators have not determined the reason why the car veered off Maryland Route 450 at 10:15 on Saturday.
