However, court records later revealed that he spent more than three hours engrossed in video games until his wife, Erica, a doctor, returned home around 4 PM and found the child unresponsive inside the car.
Later, Schultz admitted that he was aware that the car's engine shuts off automatically after 30 minutes, which stops the air conditioning from running.

Parker died an hour after being transported to Banner University Medical Center, where her mother works as an anesthesiologist. During the transfer of the child to the hospital, Erica texted her husband saying, "I told you to stop leaving them in the car, how many times have I told you that?"
