ألقت الشرطة الإسبانية القبض على ثلاثة رجال يُشتبه في أنهم قادوا غواصة مخدرات تحمل أكثر من 3.6 طن من الكوكايين من أمريكا الجنوبية إلى منطقة غاليسيا شمال غرب إسبانيا.
خدعة في طريق سانتياغو
وأثارت ملابسهم المبللة وادعاؤهم بأنهم حجاج يسيرون في طريق كامينو دي سانتياغو شكوك السائق وسائق سيارة أجرة، مما أدى إلى اعتقالهم.
بدأت التحقيقات في أغسطس بالتعاون مع إدارة مكافحة المخدرات الأمريكية، بعد رصد عصابة يُزعم أنها تتخفى كشركة لبيع وإصلاح المعدات البحرية في بلدة أوتيس بغاليسيا.
عصابة متعددة الجنسيات
في 13 سبتمبر الجاري، رصدت الشرطة قوارب عالية السرعة تابعة للعصابة تغادر ميناء أو فريكسو، فتم نشر فرق لاعتراضها عند عودتها محملة بالمخدرات من الغواصة شبه الغاطسة.
وعند عودة القوارب وبدء العصابة نقل بالات الكوكايين إلى مقطورتين، تدخلت الشرطة وصادرت طنًا من المخدرات بعد انقلاب إحدى المقطورات خلال مطاردة عالية السرعة، وتم العثور على الباقي مخبأ تحت قماش على شاطئ قريب في اليوم التالي.
الطاقم المزعوم للغواصة، وهم كولومبي وإكوادوريان، حاولوا الهروب بسيارة أجرة بملابس مبللة، مدعين أنهم حجاج، لكن سائق التاكسي لاحظ مظهرهم المشبوه، وألقي القبض عليهم بعد العثور على بدلة غوص في حقيبة أحدهم، ويُعتقد أن الغواصة تحطمت أو أُغرقت على بعد أميال من ساحل غاليسيا.
أطنان مخدرات و14 مهرباً
وإلى جانب مصادرة 3.65 طن من الكوكايين، ألقت الشرطة القبض على 14 شخصًا بتهم تهريب المخدرات والانتماء إلى منظمة إجرامية، وصادرت 54 ألف يورو، وقاربين، وخمس سيارات، ومقطورة.
وتُبرز هذه العملية الجهود المتواصلة لمكافحة تهريب المخدرات عبر غواصات المخدرات، التي أصبحت وسيلة متزايدة الاستخدام لنقل المخدرات عبر المحيطات.
The Spanish police arrested three men suspected of having led a drug submarine carrying more than 3.6 tons of cocaine from South America to the Galicia region in northwest Spain.
Trick on the Santiago Road
Their wet clothes and claims that they were pilgrims walking the Camino de Santiago raised the suspicions of a driver and a taxi driver, leading to their arrest.
Investigations began in August in collaboration with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, after a gang was spotted allegedly disguising itself as a company selling and repairing marine equipment in the town of Outes in Galicia.
Multinational Gang
On September 13, the police spotted high-speed boats belonging to the gang leaving the port of O Freixo, and teams were deployed to intercept them upon their return loaded with drugs from the semi-submersible submarine.
When the boats returned and the gang began transferring bales of cocaine to two trailers, the police intervened and seized a ton of drugs after one of the trailers overturned during a high-speed chase, with the rest found hidden under a tarp on a nearby beach the following day.
The alleged crew of the submarine, consisting of a Colombian and Ecuadorians, attempted to escape in a taxi while wearing wet clothes, claiming to be pilgrims, but the taxi driver noticed their suspicious appearance, and they were arrested after a diving suit was found in one of their bags. It is believed that the submarine crashed or sank miles off the coast of Galicia.
Tons of Drugs and 14 Smugglers
In addition to seizing 3.65 tons of cocaine, the police arrested 14 individuals on charges of drug trafficking and belonging to a criminal organization, and confiscated 54,000 euros, two boats, five cars, and a trailer.
This operation highlights the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking via drug submarines, which have become an increasingly used method for transporting drugs across oceans.
