رفعت والدة المراهق الأمريكي إيثان دالاس (15 عاماً) دعوى قضائية أمام محكمة سان فرانسيسكو العليا ضد شركتي «روبلوكس» و«ديسكورد»، متهمة إياهما بالإهمال والتقصير في حماية الأطفال من مخاطر الاستغلال الجنسي عبر الإنترنت. وجاءت الدعوى بعد أن أنهى ابنها حياته في أبريل 2024 إثر تعرضه لابتزاز جنسي عبر المنصتين.
ألعاب تحولت إلى كابوس
بحسب الدعوى، بدأ إيثان استخدام «Roblox» منذ التاسعة من عمره تحت إشراف والديه، لكن أحد البالغين تظاهر بأنه طفل وتمكن من استدراجه حين كان في الـ12. وأقنعه المعتدي بتعطيل الرقابة الأبوية ونقله لاحقاً إلى محادثات خاصة عبر تطبيق «Discord».
ابتزاز انتهى بمأساة
وتشير تفاصيل الشكوى إلى أن المحادثات تطورت تدريجياً إلى محتوى ذي طابع جنسي، قبل أن يطالب المعتدي بصور ومقاطع صريحة مهدداً بنشرها. واستسلم الضحية للتهديدات تحت الخوف، مما أدى إلى صدمة نفسية عميقة دفعته للانتحار في سن مبكرة.
اتهامات بالإهمال
وحمّلت الدعوى القضائية «Roblox» و«Discord» مسؤولية «الوفاة غير المشروعة» وفشل حماية القُصّر، مشيرة إلى أن غياب أنظمة تحقق صارمة للهوية والأعمار جعل الأطفال فريسة سهلة للمعتدين.
الشركات ترد
من جانبها، أكدت «Roblox» أنها توفر أكثر من 100 أداة حماية سنوياً، مع فرق مراقبة بشرية على مدار الساعة، إضافة إلى تعاونها مع مؤسسات لحماية الطفل.
أما «Discord» فأوضحت أن المنصة تشترط عمر 13 عاماً كحد أدنى، وتستخدم تقنيات متطورة لحذف المحتوى المسيء، مؤكدة التزامها بمحاربة الاستغلال الجنسي عبر الإنترنت.

بحسب شركة المحاماة Anapol Weiss، فإن هذه الدعوى هي التاسعة من نوعها ضد منصات ألعاب ودردشة متهمة بالتساهل مع الاستغلال الجنسي للأطفال. كما صنّف المركز الوطني لمكافحة الاستغلال الجنسي في تقرير عام 2024 «Roblox» و«Discord» ضمن كيانات «تسهّل وتستفيد» من المحتوى الجنسي غير المشروع.

Details of the complaint indicate that the conversations gradually evolved into sexually explicit content, before the perpetrator demanded explicit photos and videos, threatening to publish them. The victim succumbed to the threats out of fear, leading to profound psychological trauma that drove him to suicide at a young age.

The lawsuit holds "Roblox" and "Discord" responsible for "wrongful death" and the failure to protect minors, noting that the absence of strict identity and age verification systems made children easy prey for predators.
Companies Respond
For its part, "Roblox" stated that it provides over 100 safety tools annually, with human monitoring teams available around the clock, in addition to collaborating with organizations to protect children.
Meanwhile, "Discord" clarified that the platform requires a minimum age of 13 and uses advanced technologies to remove abusive content, affirming its commitment to combating online sexual exploitation.

According to the law firm Anapol Weiss, this lawsuit is the ninth of its kind against gaming and chat platforms accused of being lenient towards child sexual exploitation. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children classified "Roblox" and "Discord" in its 2024 report as entities that "facilitate and benefit" from illegal sexual content.

The case highlights the rising incidents of child sexual exploitation through social media and online gaming platforms. An American investigative report in 2023 revealed 35 cases of kidnapping, harassment, or luring that occurred via "Discord" alone over six years.
