قالت حركة جيش تحرير السودان، أمس (الاثنين)، إن أكثر من 1000 شخص قتلوا نتيجة انهيار أرضي ضرب قرية ترسين في منطقة جبال مرة غربي السودان، مشيرة إلى نجاة شخص واحد فقط.
وأضافت الحركة في بيان، أن «الكارثة وقعت الأحد، نتيجة انزلاقات أرضية واسعة سببتها الأمطار الغزيرة التي هطلت خلال الأسبوع الأخير من أغسطس».
وأشارت الحركة إلى أن «المعلومات الأولية تفيد بوفاة جميع سكان القرية، ويٌقدّر عددهم بأكثر من ألف شخص»، لافتة إلى أنه لم ينج من بينهم إلا شخص واحد فقط.
وناشدت حركة تحرير السودان الأمم المتحدة والمنظمات الإقليمية والدولية، التدخل لتقديم المساعدة وانتشال جثامين الضحايا.
The Sudan Liberation Army movement stated yesterday (Monday) that more than 1,000 people were killed as a result of a landslide that struck the village of Tarsin in the Jebel Marra area of western Sudan, noting that only one person survived.
The movement added in a statement that "the disaster occurred on Sunday due to widespread landslides caused by the heavy rains that fell during the last week of August."
The movement indicated that "initial information suggests that all the villagers died, with their number estimated to be more than a thousand," pointing out that only one person survived among them.
The Sudan Liberation Movement appealed to the United Nations and regional and international organizations to intervene to provide assistance and recover the bodies of the victims.
