في كارثة طبيعية هي الأسوأ من نوعها في أفغانستان منذ يونيو 2022، لقي أكثر من 622 شخصًا مصرعهم وأصيب أكثر من 1500 آخرين جراء زلزال قوي بلغت قوته 6 درجات على مقياس ريختر، ضرب محافظتي كنر وننغرهار الشرقيتين.
وقد أدى الزلزال، الذي وقع عند منتصف الليل على عمق 10 كيلومترات، إلى تدمير العديد من المنازل المبنية من الطين والحجر، خاصة في ثلاث قرى بمحافظة كنر التي شهدت أكبر عدد من الضحايا.
وأفادت وزارة الداخلية الأفغانية، بأن فرق الإنقاذ تعمل على مدار الساعة لتقديم المساعدة في مجالات الأمن والغذاء والرعاية الصحية.

وأوضحت السلطات الأفغانية أن الزلزال تسبب في أضرار جسيمة، حيث دمر قرى بأكملها في كنر وألحق أضرارًا كبيرة بممتلكات في مناطق أخرى، مؤكدة تنفيذ فرق الإنقاذ العسكرية 40 رحلة جوية لنقل 420 من الجرحى والضحايا.
وأشار متحدث باسم وزارة الخارجية الأفغانية إلى أن أي دولة أجنبية لم تعرض حتى الآن تقديم الدعم لجهود الإنقاذ أو الإغاثة.

The Afghan authorities clarified that the earthquake caused severe damage, as entire villages in Kunar were destroyed and significant damage was inflicted on properties in other areas, confirming that military rescue teams have conducted 40 airlift missions to transport 420 of the injured and deceased.
A spokesperson for the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that no foreign country has yet offered to provide support for rescue or relief efforts.
This disaster comes at a time when Afghanistan is facing escalating humanitarian challenges, including a sharp decline in international aid and a flow of its citizens returning from neighboring countries.
